    Default Confused about Rev 5

I bought a second-hand X50 with a build date of 3507 with a screen that was blank (and the mute button was missing). I sent it in to Escort for repair. I got it back and today I checked the version and it was a Rev 5! (the serial number sticker shows "M4")

I really don't understand, I thought it would be in the 6's. It did come with a note saying it was repaired 4107, so maybe there was a board switch at that time?

I'm not complaining about it, I already have 2 other Rev 5s, one blue, one red. I kinda wanted one in the 6s for comparison's sake.

I checked this thread, and it didn't clear it up:

Did it still have the original serial number attached or did it look like a reprint?

I am assume when it was fixed originally they did a board swap and it still has the original sticker, so you now have an S7.

    Default hold on

Hold onto that Rev 5 as it's the best X50 out to date. You will be glad we told you. The k band w/ that X50 "should" be awesome.

The serial number decal is original and intact, or I assume they would not have fixed it. I love the Rev 5s, but I was really hoping for a different one for comparison, oh well.

As said before, because thats what Escort told me when I sent in my Rev5. Once a Rev 5, always a Rev5. I have the 5 and the 6.1, not to much difference except on ramp up, range is so close I can not tell the difference.

My main question was the difference between the build date (3507) and a Rev. 5 S7 horn, I don't think they match up together.

Maybe escort got the RD, looked at it and couldn't be bothered to keep working on it if that particular RD had been in for service couple times before so they just picked up one of the old S7 guts laying around on the shelves and threw it in. I know one of the members here posted recently about his RX65 M4 being sent in for service and after the third repair it came back with S7 internals. His serial#/FCCID sticker wasn't changed either.

Ahh, you may be onto something there.

They will add serial number. I had no serial number on mine, pulled off with velcro. Took a few phone calls but I faxed them the receipt from an Ebay purchase and the sent it back with a new serial number.

::Raises hand:: I am that member and this is true. I sent my M4 RX65 with v6.2 firmware in for its 3rd repair and when it came back, I did a reset and found out that it now has v4.5 firmware on it, which I am told was the last firmware released for the S7 RX65's. My serial number/FCCID sticker was not changed at all and still says M4. I have yet to have any good KA encounters though to really compare the ramp up, which is disappointing. My local LEO's just don't seem to really be enforcing this summer.
