Thumbs up Another First Day with the 9500IX

got home from work yesterday and installed it (still need to get it hard wired) after driving around for some time the detector just become more and more silent as it locked out false alerts the great thing is that In my Area I only have to worry about KA so Auto Learn poses no risk for me

anyway some false alerts weren't even picked up at all and thus no need to auto learn them.

Near the end of the night I let my brother in Law drive my car with it installed and we got a KA Hit it ramped up REALLY quick I almost thought we were busted but as it turned out the LEO was more then 1/4 mile away and had just turned the corner onto the road and was coming down the opposite way

so far it looks very promising

    Stuff i don't like :
Power cord plugs into left side which at least for now pisses me off since I'm mounting it on driver side and the coiled cord kind of wants to tug the detector to the right

Cheap Suction cups (one of them doesn't want to stay on)

Auto Mute feature mutes to Quickly, I shut this off

Since I mounted really High the auto dim feature dims it too low and I can't see it at all some times, I also turned this off (would work nice for dash and mid windshield mounts)

My Car's Navi sets off a False Laser Alert when the detector gets to close or it faces my Navi's screen (pissed me off when I was trying to program my prefs)

    *edit*
The Detector being replaced is an RX 65

I agree with every one of your complaints, with the slight exception of automute. I think it works pretty well, but I have it turned off also. I mean, why do you need mute at all, if every alert is a LEO?

Once you run it a few weeks (I've had mine for three now), you'll get used to it. I have my own settings too and its easy to do. A LOT less falses than my V-1 for sure. The iX I have is lighting up to cameras that I didn't know existed. Good for me, bad for the camera man.

I've yet to see how it alerts to camera's I guess this warrants a drive to land of red light camera's some time this week. I'm sure I'll love it

Agree as well, the automute is definitely "on watch" for me, as I feel it automutes a bit too abruptly sometimes but I have yet to get a real K alert to judge it, all have been falses (which are few) and they muted very quickly, especially when I was going through a strip mall parking lot with a CVS/Harris Teeter in it. If it automutes quickly only in the case of a false (that hadn't been autolearned), I will leave it enabled. However, if it automutes too quickly during a real alert, I will disable it. I can definitely agree with your reasoning djrams, if it's more than likely going to be an LEO then why need automute!

I have the same complaint with the left side power connector. I can't wait to hardwire mine tomorrow evening when my direct wire comes in along with my laser shields. That smart cord has got to go. The only problem now is I ordered the red/green direct wire (because I was thinking that it would match my interior/gauge lighting more), but I am partial to blue especially now that I have the 9500ix! I guess I can deal with it and not worry too much, I'm sure it'll look fine. The awesome part is I have an empty (well... blank) plate to the left of the steering wheel (next to the VSA toggle and trip reset buttons) that should be wide enough to hold the remote switch flush if I cut out the right hole size (dremel time!).

I'll post pics tomorrow if all goes well. For now I have to go out to my car all excited and check the best mounting spot.

Mem-tek, where did you find the 3M VHB tape at? Any particular retailer? I'm really interested in your mount idea with it as I have no tint strip but I do have the dotted part above the RVM.

My buddy had an RX65 for a few months and it was about the same as my 8500 (which is Rev. 13) so the ix should be quite the upgrade.

I hear you on the left side power cord. When I saw the 9500i had that I was saddened.

My 4:3 GPS screen set my 8500 off about four times then it hasn't since. I'd say give yours time and it should clear up.

Congrats to you and everyone else on the ix! Reading all these new posts on them really makes me want one!

^^ I have had sporadic problems with the Escort suction cups.

I sent for two black s. c.'s from cobra ($2) for my GTI (no tint strip).
They are a bit stealthier and they hold like they're superglued on.

Interesting. Just went to the Cobra website and ordered a couple of their suction cups for my 9500ix. I too have been having problems keep the cups glued. Hopefully the Cobra one will fit the 9500ix properly.

Yeah, they fit fine on my 9500i bracket. I assume the ix has the same set-up.
