Default The installation procedure for my 9500ci

    Hi everyone,

Since the 9500ci is a rather expensive product, some people may consider installing it themselves in order to save some money. I am slowly working on what eventually will be a fully detailed web page or pages which show, step by step, how to properly install the complete 9500ci system. Here is what I have worked up so far. All comments, suggestions and alternative installation photos will be most appreciated.

    Hi guys,

I fixed the link in my above post. Stupid me! I was tired and accidentally linked to the html page on my hard drive rather than on my web site.

Mem, nice instructions, I assume more to come?

Also, you have the antenna mounted in the 3rd brake light hole? do you get good reception?

Oh yeah, there is a lot more to be added in order to create an in-depth review of the 9500ci. I've already found a minor firmware bug, but that is for a separate thread.

The GPS antenna getting excellent reception. I really didn't think that the plastic 3rd brake light housing would interfere at all with GPS, and I was right. The GPS antenna has as good of a view of the sky through my rear window as my 9500i would if I mounted the 9500i really low on my front windshield. I know that the rear GPS antenna is continuously able to see several satellites since even when driving along with some tree cover my 9500ci accurately reports the correct vehicle speed compared to my speedometer.

And guess what? No issues with heat. It was 94 degrees this afternoon. While in town I stopped by my favorite deli and had a long lunch and read the local paper. I came out to my car, fired up the 9500ci, and of course found the GPS antenna to be working fine. Escort really should change the GPS antenna's injection molded case color from black to either white or possibly a nice very light tan color since light tan pretty much goes nicely with any other color.
