    Default X50 Bouncing around

I have an X50, and I was wondering if any of you guys had come up with any ways to make the thing stop bouncing around on the windshield? It drives me up the wall at night. I have tried mounting it in hundreds of different positions, and angles, none of which fixed, or helped the problem. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Try this, it worked on another detector.

Go to the hardware store bring the suction cups and braket. Well go to the washers. Find a washer that has the middle diamater (hole in the middle) the same as your suction cups. Then test to see if the washer is thick enough to make the braket more non-moveable.

Hard to explain but i think you'll get it. Try that out

think about what he is saying and you will understand. i don't know if it will work but it's worth a try.

i am having the same problem with the 9500ix bouncing around. my car has a pretty stiff suspension so the bouncing is applified even more. i would love to find away to support the detector better.

Welcome to the forum by the way,

On my X50, I took a small piece of really thin cardboard paper and cut it into a small square and folded it. Then I slid the square in the same place as where the bracket slides into the detector. It helped a little.

The other weird thing is that when I have mine mounted very high and center (the usual), and it is hardwired, I get very little vibration. The times I move it to another car for the time being or something and it's mounted low, (sometimes off center too) it bounces more. Don't know maybe on the low mount it has something to do w the curve of the windsheld, or the power cord pulling it (thats the only time I use the power cord).

    Hope that helps.

I have it hardwired, mounted high and center. I'll try the washer trick. Thanks for the info guys!

Make's you wonder doesn't it. For what we pay, WTF, Escort suction cups suck. With all the testing, do these guys ever think of the mounts. I sent mine in a few weeks ago and told them, I need new cups. He said no problem. They are as bad as my old ones. 2cent cups, come on. So now off to Walmart, get out the dremel and make your own.

The best way i found to stop the bouncing was to do a high mount with the edge of the RD leaning against the RVM like below.

Mine is mounted really high, then an extra suction cup stuck to the top of it so the tip of the cup wedges against the roof.
