While we where having fun doing our mini radar test, zipping up and down the course I found that the CI acts very peculiar. Because, I did not have the time to devote to testing this until I could get repeatable results, this will have to remain speculation and nothing more.
Oddity #1. When going up the test course anyone with a laser gun loved to pick on the rear ZR4 head. I would always let the alert die down, and then proceed down the course for a radar run. The first time I did this the performance on KA band was just HORRIBLE. It went from 2400FT to around V1 range at 1500 - 1800FT. Same goes for the front laser heads. I had them in receive mode only, and any time I would get hit with laser my Ka reception would be greatly reduced.
However, once I power cycled the unit I never had this problem.
Oddity #2. One of the Sheffield village officers came to the test course for a very lengthy amount of time, and had left his K band gun on. So while doing our 34.7 testing I noticed yet again that while the K band signal was present the 9500CI's ability to alert to Ka was greatly reduced. It was alerting to around V1 range at 1500FT - 1800FT.
So here's what I learned. If you are going to test the 9500CI, make sure the course is free from ANY interference. And always remember to power cycle the unit, and let the 10 second boot up time take place.
If anyone has a CI and some radar guns I'd love to see some more testing of this.
