    Default Couple of questions...

    1. Is there any way to unmark certain redlight cameras? After this last update, I get 2 redlight camera warnings on the highway to and from work. Kind of annoying. I am almost going back to the previous update if that's the case and I'll probably just tag cameras myself.

    2. I disabled X-bands since it isn't used in Florida for patrolling and it seems that every store and their mothers use it. I heard, that unlike disabling POP, this can actually decrease the sensitivity of the sensor. Can someone please explain this to me? Also, will disabling Ku (default it is disabled) do the same? I don't understand how it can have an inverse reaction to disabling POP.

hmm for #1, here is an excerpt from the manual:

To unmark a location, simply press the “MRK” button when you are receiving a “marked location” alert. The display will read “Unmark?” Press the “MRK” again to
confirm. The display will read: “Unmarked”.

for #2 above I'm sure one of the experts here will chime in but in the interim if you're concerned with sensitivity, you could consider "Highway" mode which just runs at highest sensitivity (X-band only) but that might be annoying to some, just a thought. hope this helps...

I know that you can unmark locations but for some reason it isn't allowing me to do it for redlight camera locations. And I always use highway mode, wasn't really what I asked.

Q1) The database from Escort cannot be changed/deleted, the ones you marked can be but the ones you downloaded cannot. Even if you could the next time you updated the database it would be there again.
You could turn off GPS for that are and that will certainly work, but it kind of defeats the point of the database and the reason why i assume you bought the ix.

Q2) The idea of turning a feature off is so the RD will be doing 1 less thing and allow more time for the primary/important function. In the end turning POP off is just to quiet the RD and KU isn’t used here anyway.

I personally wouldn’t turn off X, i would just lock them all out, or allow the ix to do it for you because you never know, and that’s exactly what TrueLock is for.

Q1) How can I turn off the GPS for a specific area? Wouldn't that manually have to be turned on and off? I don't understand why they don't allow you to unmark signals that were downloaded. That would be a good way for us to maintain their database in check. I like one user's idea to have the sensitivity for redlight cameras diminished according to your speed. Assuming that you'll be on the highway going over 55MPH would ignore all redlight cameras. Makese sense.

Q2) I understand the concept that the detector is constantly scanning frequencies x to y. Makes sense that by disabling certain frequencies, the radar's scan range would be smaller, allowing it to scan at a more rapid rate. This supports the idea that turning off POP and Ku bands would enhance the responsiveness of the detector. Then how come some people say that turning the X band off would diminish this responsiveness. Doesn't really make sense to me.

I see what you're saying about having TrueLock and letting the detecot do the locking out. However, living in Orlando can drive you crazy. This is the strip-mall capital of the world. You cannot turn the corner without a stupid automatic door. The time it takes for the detector to learn the falses is enough to drive me crazy already. Besides, no cops EVER use X-band here. I haven't seen K-band used for patrolling either. They stick to Ka and Laser (if even).

Q1) Yes that would be manually turning it off and on. They don’t allow users to unmark and use it as a check because all the V1 zombies would be going out marking everything. They use to have it where the radius was diminished but it was from 500ft to 1500ft, way to big.

Just like how subtracting something can increase efficacy taking something away that is one of its primary functions can have the same effect. Ether case its all speculation and can vary from RD to RD. Plus in ether case its not enough + or - to matter.

You could lock them out manually if auto takes too long for you. My only concern when turning off is a trip to an unknown area that uses X and you forget to turn it back on.

You know, I can certainly understand why one could be driven nuts with all the falses but where I live we have a fair amount of strip malls, liquor stores and mini casinos and after a few trips, 3 or 4 they are locked out. I've learned to just ignore the few others for the most part but I guess it depends on the person obviously. As for just the RLC function, this is a useless function for me personally and consider this a gimmicky selling point at best and I wish it could be turned off while maintaining all other functions hopefully with a firmware update if that's possible.

For Q1 above, realizing the 9500ix is a very new product, there are always issues to be worked out and in this case, perhaps with enough user input with a new firmware update maybe they'll address these RLC issues you are experiencing.

One last thing, I'm with CJ above in leaving "X" on at least for now and letting "TrueLock" take care of it and I got to thinking what if LEOs got sneaky and decided to for old times sake, yank out X when everyone got a bit too comfy with knowing that they (LEOs) are only using only Ka and laser and then BAM! hit with X, food for thought...

I dunno, but I had one red-light camera enroute to work and I unmarked it. I hit one of the buttons twice when it said "You've reached your marked location" (even though they set it) while sitting at the red light by the intersection, screen said UNMARK and I left it alone. Next day it wasn't there.

I also sent an email to this address cameras@speedcheetah.com telling them of the error (Latitude & Longitude and intersection's street names) from Streets & Trips 2008 and got this back a week later:

    Thank you Mr. xxx:

We just missed the last update which can be downloaded now so we’ll get that taken care of for the next one next month.

    Appreciate your help.

Chat InformationWelcome to Escort Inc.! An online representative will be with you shortly. You are number 2 in the queue. Your wait time will be approximately 2 and 4 seconds. Thank you for waiting.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Dave'

Dave: Thank you for your interest in Escort! How may I help you today?

    you: hey Dave

you: I just have a quick question regarding my 9500ix

you: is there any possible way of unmarking a redlight camera marker that was downloaded?

you: I heard only ones added by the user can be removed?

Dave: You can wait until you are in that zone again and when the satellite icon starts spinning , hit the mark button 3x and it will delete that location.

Dave: You can delete locations off the Trinity database too.

you: how can I delete locations of the trinity database

you: whenever redlight is on the lcd (from trinity), the mute button does nothing

you: I seem to only be able to delete redlight markings added by me

Dave: hit the mark button 3x

    you: mark? not mute?

    Dave: Yes

you: gotcha I will give that a try

    you: another question

Dave: Mute 3x is to unlock false alerts that have been truelocked

you: I live in Orlando, FL and since no LEOs use X-band for patrolling traffic, I was thinking about turning the band off

you: will this affect my radars sensitivity for the other bands in any way?

    you: gorhca

Dave: Turning off the x band will not affect the other bands
