Default Feature Request for Escort RD's

Now that I've had some driving time with my x50, I've thought of a few features they could incorporate into future models that would be beneficial. One would be to have a headset jack, or even better, a bluetood wireless earplug that you could wear while driving. When I'm on the highway with my windows down and radio turned up, I can barely hear the x50 when it goes off. I would love an earpiece of some sort so I don't miss any alerts... Whattya guys think of that? Would be easy to incorporate, although I'm not sure if they would have to make the plastic RD housing larger to accomodate...

I would think they could add a 1/8" jack for an earphone without making the case larger... but have you tried the "loud" setting in the programming menu? Apparently it changes the sounds so they're louder and easier to hear.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Loud setting does make it louder, trust me not loud enough. Even with the radio turned low and windows down it is hard for me to hear the thing.

You can purchase the powered external speaker. I have never used one or heard it to see if its helps any but you can give it a shot and let us know.

I didn't know it had a jack, kinda defeats the hardwired installation though with a wire hanging from the ceiling to your head though. I think I have mine on loud setting, I'll double-check that.

if its a major concern of yours to hear it with the windows down/radio on, then go with the speaker. i LOVE it and it was a piece of cake to install.

you can hear it perfectly with the windows all the way down and the tunes pumpin. sometimes its too loud if you got the glass up and the music low, so you just gotta use the volume control on the RD.

i've since hidden the wire better.

Is there any way you can record the unit with the speaker off and then with it on, X50 turned all the way up and on LOUD setting?

Just to get a rough idea.

ok, found this thread...cool. the search works ok here....

I wonder if anyone has wired up the headphone jack to the car stereo.
This way - when stereo off.... no challenge for sound. the builtin x50 speaker takes the cake. If the stereo is on, and the the earphone is pre-amp located, then the alert will be heard over the stereo.

Any ideas on this one? Maybe a good kit to sell for preamp wiring from x50 earphone jack? Filtering included if needed....

talk to me baby...talk to me! hahaha..

Go to radio shack or a truck stop and get a extra loud CB speaker to hide in your car, maybe in the a/c vents...

Don't forget that Roy offers an amplified speaker too! That'd probably be the way to go.
