View Poll Results: A new laser-only detector -- would you buy it?
Definitely yes -- if it blew away the V1's laser detection!

No -- I would rather put my money towards a jammer installation.
Only way I would buy one if it was an add-on to your existing product for $100. Any more and No way because I'd put it towards a jammer set up. So I voted No.
I voted yes because I love new gadgets(not good for my wallet!!!). If it worked with any detector and had the XTR-695's ability to lock out falses based on pulse rate and was around $100.
I was considering buying the ZR4 system until djrams80 stated his ZR4 laser heads falsed too much If Whistler can sell a windshield detector with great laser features(XTR-695- not sure if it has the same detection range?) for less than $200 then why can't Belscort or V1 have the same ability to block laser falses(especially for $399-$1600!!)?

The market is probably rather small for such a device.
Most laymen who do not know better are going to simply think that their low-end radar detector will do a similar job with laser, just because it said so on the package or the salesman insisted on such.
With those who invested in a high-end detector, the market likely becomes limited as they may also well invest in a jammer.
With those who already have a jammer, many would see this device as redundant, and un-necessary.
I, myself, despite having proper jammer coverage as well as receptive coverage, would still appreciate such an add-on, as long as it:
(1) doesn't hit too hard on the wallet
(2) guaranteed both front and rear coverage (at my selected points - and here, I'd augment high detection for rear, and mid-windshield detection for the front)
(3) is compatible, without modifications, to my detector/jammer combo
(4) does not false excessively

Remember though, I live in LA. Those Infinitis are everywhere and they are by far the worst offenders.

Sweet. Get those heads straight and level, that's the key.

I would like one that was nanotechnology, and attatched to the cars in front of me, constantly moving around.
100% of the time I would get an advanced warning
Or maybe one that would lock onto the gun's MAC address (or similar) and then somehow upload a virus ala Independence Day where they got the Alien mother ship at the end

Everyone knows that LIDAR detection is pretty much worthless - the cop has your speed by the time your detector goes off. A jammer is an absolute must!
X2^
while i have seen my V1 to detect scatter as another car ahead was targeted (which i was well impressed by ) i would not like to have to rely on it as a means of laser protection by any means.
a good jammer and good reflexes are the best laser defences you can have IMO
