Angry 9500ix seems loose on mount...

Anyone notice how the 9500ix seems loose on its mount? I don't know if this is normal for Escort radar, but that's the one thing that my V1 was superior on. I drive to/back from work in some pretty bumpy roads and the 9500ix seems to click down a level facing in a downward angle. This happens almost every day. The suction cups haven't been a problem since I replaced them with the Cobra ones. Anyone know how I can keep the 9500ix from moving out of angle when hitting slight bumps? Anyone else experiencing this?

Not really. I just bend the mount. Front top of the detector has to touch the glass.

    Hi akarol,

Are you saying that when you go over bumps the detector slides forward a notch, implying that the "hook" in the detector for the notch doesn't stay latched onto the correct notch?

I have spent tons of time leveling and adjusting my 9500 and found only 1 way to make it perfect. Bending the mount works pretty well so it doesn't click down a level, the farthest notch in isn't really a spot it holds so bending it helps. High mount to the left of the RVM with part of the RD leaning on the RVM works perfect.

See my install as to what i did and the Governator simplified:

I also upgraded my suction cups today to heavy over sized ones i cut down to size. Someone else here did the same thing.

MEM-TEK, that is exactly what I mean. The 9500ix is touching the glass as it's supposed to, but if the bump is strong enough, it still slides down a notch.

CJR238, can you be more specific on where I should be bending exactly? Thanks!

If it keeps popping out leave it there and bend the angle from 30 degrees to 20 degrees and now you won’t need to click it in all the way. The mounting bracket is set to a certain angle but because its mettle it can be bent, the smaller the degree of angle you make the less notches it needs to go in.

    Where is yours mounted?

I did as you suggested. Seems better so far. We'll see if it does it again this week. Thanks for all your help guys.

BTW, I have it mounted directly under the mirror. I can't place it above the mirror like I had my V1 unfortunately. I drive a 2003 Audi A4 Cabriolet.

    Hi akarol,

You may need to internally install a tiny piece of weatherstrip material inside your 9500ix to make its bracket clip stay hooked into the notch on the bracket. I will disassemble my 9500i (yet again!) and then take step-by-step photos and write detailed instructions on how to do this. Don't attempt this until I post the photos along with the write-up, or you could damage your 9500 due to static electricity. Anyway, I will get to this in the next day or two so please be patient. The result is that you could drive over a fallen tree and your 9500ix will not slip a notch! No guarantee about driving over a cliff though!

Why can't you mount your 9500ix above your RVM like you had your V1? Here is my solution for mounting my Belscort radar detectors above my RVM:
