Default X band alert with X band off

So I have recently found out X band isnt used in FL for police radar. So I havent heard an X alert in about 3 weeks. Well, last night I went downtown and couldnt find parking, so I regretfully let a valet park it. I leave and am driving home, I drive past a walgreens and get a regular K false. Then I am driving and pick up a few blips of Xband. I was like WTF, I turned this off... did the Valet mess with my car or RD? And I thought he would have to had messed with the configurations because I can leave it unplugged forever and it would still restart X band off. Then I drive past another X source that gets a near full alert. I stop at a light and go into configurations. It says bands MOD and X OFF. I turned the car off and back on.... it came on X OFF. I drive home without any more X. I will report more later today... but any ideas?

Ideas: Yup, not working correctly. Simple as that.

I have encountered a very obscure bug with Bel/Escort RDs. The bug is so remote to encounter that I have never bothered mentioning it here. Quite simply, with some RD models if you go into Program mode and then rapidly cycle On or Off a particular radar band, then sometimes the radar detector will either alert to the band (even though you thought that you had it turned off), or not alert to the band (even though you thought that you had it turned on). This weird condition always clears itself to the correct programmed settings which you thought you had set once the RD is power cycled. Like I said, this is a very obscure bug. The only way I could manifest it was to deliberately and quickly cycle through Off-On for each of the band settings. Yeah, apparently I have way too much time on my hands!

It has not done this again since and I have spent about 3 hours in the car since then driving past many known X falses.

Mem-tek: does that mean one day I can get in my car, start driving, and the whole time it will be not alerting to Ka or K? or does it have to be something you have recently messed with? I had not adjusted my settings in over 2 weeks, does that matter at all or do you think the valet messed with it?

This bug only shows up if you deliberately mess with the settings by quickly turning one or more radar bands on and off very quickly several times. So its not something you have to worry about. The bug also disappears if you power cycle the RD. My guess is that the valet was messing with the radar detector, perhaps showing all of its features to a buddy of his.

IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN ON MY WAY HOME!!!

Okay, it has been well over a month now since the first time I noticed this. No one else has driven my car at all since the valet when I originally made this thread. I just hopped in my car and was driving home and the X band went off again. It hasn't done this once since the original thread, but I havent touched a single button on the unit for at least a week... WHATSUP WITH THAT?

The first thing I would try is a reset, but I assume you've done that already? You'd have to set everything the way you want it again, but it's worth a shot. If after doing this, the condition is still present, you've got a problem.

Its so completely random though.... it works fine 98 times out of 100 but these two times it alerted X... how does the master reset work? What do I do and what does it actually accomplish?

With the detector off, while holding the Sensitivity and Brightness buttons down, turn on the detector. It should dispaly "RESET" on its display. This basically resets the software back to factory defaults. Perhaps you have some sort of glitch. Like I said it's worth a shot. Again, you will have to put all of your settings back the way you want them again.
