Default Windshield mount bracket, a better way?

You know I drive down the street and my RD (9500ix) is slightly boinging up and down occasionally with the roads around here as I'm sure many have experienced, is there a better solution I'm not aware of short of having a remote unit? The Escort bracket is flimsy and weak and surely there has to be a better solution out there...

This is wierd i was just about to ask dj or mem who made the thread about velcro using as suction cups because I found an improvement to that.

First off I would like to tell you a few very simple ones

Bigger suction cups, I used just one of the jumbo suction cup and it did better than two of bels.

    Velcro also does it

But I found that Super Lock is the best way to mount a detector. Easy removal, better than suction cups yet 10x as strong and 7x as strong as regular velcro.

This super lock I put a strip of it on my winshield and a piece where the suction cups would be sticking out of the braket. It holds up so good, plus I painted it black and blends in great.

Let me put this to you in prospective, for my spare key I decided that I wanted to find a new place because a few people already knew about my key behind the license plate (very good place for your spare, plus all you need is a dime/nickle/quarter/penny to get your spare but its a lot safer than magnetic mounts)

Well i decided to try fast lock and I put it under the rear bumper. I put a strip on the inside of the bumper and a piece on my key holder. And for 3 months its held up. Not to mention I got hit at 40mph in the bumper by another car and It still held up. This is stronger than any adhesive you will ever find.

Cheap too. I would deffinatly go with super lock/fast lock velcro (its not normal velcro, stuff they use for the toll passes.)

Its all about how you have it mounted. I have had some placements that bounce like crazy and some that do not bounce at all. You can bend the metal braket a million different ways until its perfect. Right now its flush against the ceiling and does not bounce at all, but that will probably change the next time I clean and try to remount it.

Yeah bend it also that should fix it if you want to use suction cups. Also washers will fix the problem too. You have to take your bracket and suction cups to the hardware store to find the right one though

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just have to play with it a bit and try your suggestions...

YTCD, I've long admired that to-do list of yours, love that starter kill switch, may do that and also the Brembos are sweet...I have a set of EBC sport rotors on right now with Hawk HPS pads & StopTech SS Braided brake lines...

9500ier, yeah I've been bending the crap out of my bracket and may need another but I'll try moving it around some in conjunction with YTCD's suggestion, thank again the both of you,

Thanks gov. Yeah Im always trying something new. I love workin on my car and making everything better on my car. Just about everything to my car i've added i've done myself. Hawk pads are great, but I don't like the brake dust that they give out. I personally feel that brakes are the single most important upgrade you can put in a car. That and tires if you have terrible tires. I was going to buy some nitto invo's (best tires imo) but I'm about to buy a BMW so I'm going to wait on those. But anybody can do most of the things you have to do to your car or add ons by your self. And you'll save so much money. My aftermarket headlights, the dealership wanted $360 to install it and 3 hours of labor, i was so pissed by the price i went home and did it myself and in an hour I had installed my headlights with no previous knowledge of how to do it.

If were giving out cudo's, I have to give cudo's to MEM-TEK because he is willing to test things he believes in even if nobody believes him (which i do believe him). I respect him highly. Same with DJGrams, not one bit biased and is always trying to help somebody else. And Jim, is redicoulous with his knowledge, hes not the proffessor hes the scientest/knowledgist. CJ, too smart and would be a great employee at Escort, haha

I upgraded to heavy large suction cups that i cut down to size. Works quite well, but doesn't beat having it mounted high and to the left of the RVM and resting against it.

Yeah you know, I was in AZ the other day, brand new store too and looked great but while browsing around I came across a pkg of generic large suction cups and nearly bought them but do the large cups, cut down or not make it any less jiggly? I may go the Velcro route until next summer when I'm damn sure going remote...

The large suction cups helped, they are jammed into the bracket so well it really doesn't move much but resting slightly on the RVM is key.
I tried the Velcro rout, but after it slipped out of it 2 times I gave up.
