Picked up the 9500ix today at Best Buy and the power converter at Radio Shack. I drove around aimlessly for a couple of hours testing it out. I did not get any actual LEO hits or Ka, but plenty of RLC's because I live in RLC camera hell.
I bought it for the RLC's because they are $379 plus fees per violation in SoCal, and the area I live has them everywhere it seems.
I have to say though that I'm not thrilled with the 250' RLC alert range ... I'm pretty much on top of them before the detector alerts, and past them when the detector tells me I've arrived at my location (or whatever it says). It would be nice if that was a programmable option ... set it to 1/3 mile or so.
It also missed one RLC northbound, but got it southbound on the way back (there was another RLC about 1 mile before northbound, so maybe that had something to do with it). I was also sitting 10' from one RLC and the detector displayed 100' ahead. Another location gave a RLC false ... there was not a camera at that intersection. I have to play with it some more ... we'll see how it goes. Hell one RLC save and it nearly pays for itself.
I would have bought the blue anyway, but I would also have taken it back for the red pretty quickly if that were an option. The blue washes out in the sun in my convertible. It looks sweet at night though.
I never got a ticket while using my X50 Rev 5 ... 2 tickets in 7 months with the V1 ... so hopefully it's as good or better than the old X50.
Speed display for the win ... I was surprised how accurate the speedo in my S2000 is, at least up to 95 mph ... they are usually within 1-2 MPH of each other and often spot on.
I can't figure out how to display the software version ... when manually resetting it does not display. I upgraded using the super cool detector tools anyway even though it probably already had the latest and greatest. Anyone know how to get the ix to show the software version?
