Just as a side note driving the other day, my V1 had laser falses as an Infiniti FX35/45 drove next to me.

I always said first hand experience is the best kind,
I just purchased this unit from my local Best buy, on the way home I tested and used the crap out of ICC, I did not recieve one false. So my buddy may have a defective unit. About to register online and check the firmware verion I will keep you posted.
Are you absolutely positive of this?
A good friend of mine in the BL/BP-chassis Legacy community had a laser-falsing problem with his 9500i, and returned it for "the fix" - increased shielding around the laser sensors.
The projected decrease in LIDAR sensitivity, compared to "pre-fix," words directly from his tech, was in the neighborhood of 30%.
I'm not flaming you - please don't misunderstand. My question is a genuine one.

Good stuff.
Looks like you are having the same good luck that another of our members, in the thread I referenced above, had.
Also, to-note, your buddy might not necessarily have a defective unit.
With what I cited above, to nick, it may just be a production-variance issue - both with the detectors involved, as well as your vehicles.
That it (the trouble occurring or not) actually depends on the SPECIFIC (i.e. UNIQUE) vehicle. Your X-brand, Y-model car may see such a false, while my same-year-of-manufacture, X-brand, Y-model car may not.
Case-in-point?
A fellow '05 Legacy GT owner saw persistent laser falsing in his vehicle, while in mine, I lucked out, and didn't see this at all.
This, I suspect, even has to do with the SPECIFIC detector (i.e. "your" 9500i, versus "my" 9500i), based on its own production variances, and how such variances may interact with your cars' variances.
I ship back my GX65 for the same reason(laser falsing when honking the horn). In the same car, same spot on the windshield and the same situation my RX65 remained silence. My car has diesel engine show i have much less electric noise than the petrol engines.Although i'm overseas the last days i make a lot of calls to Bell to make sure that my GX65 will be like the others after the fix. Here is my last dialog with Dan:
Me:Good morning Dan, I'm Nick Stathopoulos from Europe (Athens,Greece).I ship back my GX 65 with serial number BG000813 because it was laser falsing when i was honking the horn. The modifications that you make to fix this issue affect the laser receiving? My concern, would be that i will lose laser detection capability - either in-part, or even in-whole.Should i worry about that?
Dan: The modifications that will be made will not lower the laser sensitivity to any degree that should make you concerned.
Me: Thank you very much Dan!
Dan: you are very welcome.

Infiniti G37s Modded slightly :0)
I did plug in and updated to the 1.1 version firmware and updated the Database for the RLC's. However it is now raining and I do not drive that car in the rain. however directly after purchasing I recieved no false positives when using ICC with my 9500ix and 2008 Infiniti G37
