The Infiniti cruise control uses laser to determine the distance between cars. The 9500ix detects laser. The 9500ix is doing it's job, which is to detect laser. The laser from your Infiniti looks exactly the same to your 9500ix as does the laser that LEOs use to determine your speed. Your only fix is to turn laser off on your 9500ix or somehow disable your cruise control's laser. I don't think that Escort can do anything to make your 9500ix reject the Infiniti cruise control laser, yet still detect police laser.

    ^ +1.

I'd ask them, Christian, exactly what their "fix" entails.

My fear, as with dj's would be that you would lose laser detection capability - either in-part, or even in-whole.

Why not just turn off the laser guided cruise control (just the laser guided part) and actually pay attention to driving?

I think that there's more to the Infiniti's systems than that - I think it's also tied-in to their, as the OP mentioned, active-safety devices (Preview Braking).....

okay, well here is what I found out straight from the manufacter. Passport phone number 1-800-964-3138, I asked to speak to tech support or whomever could answer as to this question.

When using Intelligent cruise control or driving around other vehicles with "ICC" there are false positives given under conditions where a vehicle slows down in front of you and "preview braking" is activated.

I am not sure if false laser positives are locked out or not, potentially this is logged as a false positive on the 9500ix and then locked out in gps wherever you are at that time, thus poking a hole in your laser detection for that spot.

Question - Are you aware of this on the 9500ix?
Answer - yes we are, at this time there is NO FIX for this.

Question - What "fix" was offered then to my fellow G37 owner when they told him to RMA his unit for this type of problem?
Answer - There is no fix for this other than to turn off laser detection, we have no fix available for this problem.

Question - Will there be a fix for this?
Answer - Not that I am aware of.

So when driving next to or operating a car equipped with active cruise control (lexus, mercedes, infiniti, etc) you have the potential to get a false laser positive and possible lock out that location.

Currently, you cannot lock out laser alerts on the Escort detectors (same logic as in not being able to lock-out a Ka-band signal - the threat potential is just too high).

You can deactivate alerting of that "band," altogether, but you cannot "lock-out," in the TrueLock/AutoLearn fashion.

BTW, this is not a novel topic, it has been explored before:

you will have to get a false alert at the same location 3 times I think in order to be locked out, and some people saying it will be safer not to use the auto-lock right now.

YOU CANNOT LOCK OUT LASER OR KA BASED ON GPS LOCATION YOU CAN ONLY TURN IT OFF ENTIRELY! That applies to true-lock and auto-lock (or whatever they are called).
