    I don't know if it's because they really believe this, or if it's typical cop "I'm in control and I know the facts" bluster (and I used to be a cop, so no flames, please), but that is an opinion that I often hear (actually read) from LEOs.

    As has already been mentioned, I think it's one of those instances where it's best to nod sheepishly and let them think that our equipment is worthless. I don't particularly want LEOs to believe, for instance, that the use of effective lidar jammers is widespread.

    Like the others here have said, there's a lot of factors involved here - both the physical set-up/presentation of the trap, as well as the LIDAR hardware used in the trap - can all well play a role, and that's excluding the potential variances on your end of the equation (i.e. the detector's sensitivity, which can vary quite a bit, due to simple production variance; how you have it mounted in-vehicle; your beltline-to-greenhouse ratio; etc.).

    Things could go either way.
