I googled for the quote but couldn't find it; Roy mentioned once on here explicitly that Amazon is *NOT* an authorized dealer.

I bought an 8500 x50 in July,2008 from Amazon itself not a market place vendor. I was able to purchase the extended warranty from Escort. Which you have to fax or mail a copy of the receipt before Escort will even sell you the warranty. So I would think Amazon is not an unathorized dealer.

look at it this way... amazon has a great return policy. if it's broke you'll get one that works. odds are it will not randomly break, and they don't fall out of tune. The IX can be firmware upgraded via the internet so I only see this as a win win.

and you can probably buy an aftermarket warranty that amazon offers to cover if something freak happens and it where to break down the road.

so who cares if they aren't price locked "authorized" into some superficial price structure.

and buying it at 410, will get you a little closer to making a profit if you find out you don't like it past the return period.
