Alright guys, after reading several hundred posts a week about the 9500ci I have come to quite a few conclusions and I would suggest taking them into consideration as Im close to sure there valid.
First off for people who get the 9500ci and STI-R, I believe their are mounting limiations that need to be discussed and are their.
After reading Alpine Invitational results I was quite stunned when the CI haulted very bad results. The 9500ci was on a corvette mounted very low and was getting .6 mile ka detections while other detectors even the 9500i(x) was getting close to double that. I believe the terrible results are because of the line of sight. That low to the ground it will make a big difference especially on a hill, I mean its as easy to understand a little bit of the concept on a hill just by looking at this, http://www.valentine1.com/images/dipping.gif.
You might pick up the detection if you have your detector mounted high, but not low to the ground.
I also have come to the conclusion that the mounting position in which your able to see under cars is also a bad idea as your not going to have enough line of sight either. Recently in DJ's "zombie" thread there was something else contributing to him not getting the alert and I honestly believe it may be the line of sight even, though Im not sure, as we will never be.
Much more to this topic but I'm just going to cut it short as I've stated my point
Alright I don't understand why Escort has such extensive filtering. I think its stupid in a way, not neccessarly on all detectors but detectors with GPS capabilties they need to fix this. Its just stupid, theres no need for it. And filtering ka for cobra radar detectors is just plain out stupid in mind also, I'd much rather have my detector alert to a cobra rd than have my detector filter out the most common deadliest band there is right now, KA. (Though x i/o is rare but more deadly reason I stated common)
I think that they need to figure out better I/O algathorims, and filtering problems. I think Belscort needs to start thinking more logically.
And if you don't believe me then let me ask you this, Why does the STI-R beat the 9500ci in all bands though it uses the same exact antenna?
Also, why doesn't the 9500ci use Narrow Ka band? Seems like a 1600 dollar detector with the same antenna as the STI-R (which has narrow ka) would have such a feature.
