I had a confirmed money saving 9500ix save today ... all the better because it happened on the same road where my old V1 had failed .
This road is a nice, twisty, three mile section through a canopy of trees (rare stuff for SoCal). There is not a single straight and nearly every corner is blind to oncoming traffic. It's popular with the sportbikes and fast cars. It's also popular with CHP because of the many accidents and roadside memorials ...
I've had 2 tickets on this road ... the first with no detector (which prompted me to get into the detector scene), the 2nd with the V1 which alerted Ka, but only after I came around a curve and saw the CHP (which prompted me to get rid of the V1 because it was not the first time it failed in the twisties). I beat the V1 ticket in court, but still.
Today I was bombing around and I got a 34.706 hit on the 9500ix ... I slowed down from 70ish to below the PSL (35 mph) very quickly, and two corners later there was the CHP coming in the opposite direction ... I didn't even glance at him as I went on my way.
Very short range to be sure, but given the circumstances an excellent save.
I was always annoyed with the ticket I got using the V1 because I figure the cops must always use constant on Ka on this road. I'll never know for sure, but instant on would be crazy. Either way, money in my pocket today with the 9500ix.
