    Default 9500 ix day 4

Today was my first road trip on the interstate and you have to understand that with my 845i, I was doing good to pick up a mobile radar speed device K band at 1/2 mile.
Today the 9500i gave me a 1 1/2 mile notice.
Now this, has put the joy, that has been missing for years, back into my commute.
I had intended, once I got to the office, to call V1, and try it out before I made my final decision on the 9500 ix. Now I am not so sure I need to do that.
Once I got to the city portion of the interstate commute, I had X band falses coming out the rear end.
When I was younger, the falses didn't bother me as much, but now I am in my 40's and it does get on my nerves.
I would not be comfortable turning off X on the V1 because it is still used in my area of the world.
So what do you all think? Should I still try out the V1?

    Thanks

The ix is a great detector and if X band was in my area I think I would prefer it over the V1. If you can turn X off and POP off on the V1 and use the K band muting the V1 is tolerable on falses. If falses get on your nerves you have found the right detector, stick to your decision aand don't look back.

If you drive slowly enough in the city so that there's a buffer zone between your commute speeds and your city speeds, you can pair the V1 with the Cheetah GPS-Mirror or C100 stand-alone, and using their detector interface, mute all of the in-city stuff under your preset speed.

I'm a city-dweller - although I would not find the V1's nature problematic, myself, I know that my primary passengers would find it unbearable.

Escort products thus have always been my choice, and my compromise.

I think that this is the most overlooked factor in determining which countermeasures are right for each person. At least 90% of my passengers find the noises that my countermeasures make to be totally obnoxious.

I've had my 9500ix for about 2 weeks. First day I was greeted at work with the wise crack "the 80's called, they are looking for their electronics". lol...

Anyway, I've been driving around the neighborhood mostly since then and it has done a wonderful job blocking out the false X and K band noise. Also have noticed a few county police rolling with K band on continuously.

Drove the VW Phaeton to the beach over the weekend (about 800 miles) and had two confirmed saves. One was on the way there. A LEO shooting Ka band hidden on the side of the road. Had about 1/4 mile notice.

Second on the way back. Ka band again, immediately slowed down, about 3 mins later LEO comes screaming behind me to get the rabbit that was in front.

Even the wife had to agree that it was a wise investment.

I also LOVE the fact that it will display speed, especially since most speedo's are off by a few mph at higher speeds.

Nice trip made even nicer by my new friend the 9500ix.

    I went ahead and ordered a V1.
Guess I just need to see for myself what all the hype is about.
The lady on the phone told me to keep it in BIG L if I don't like the chatter.
This one stretch of interstate has about 5 mobile k band units in a 5 or 6 mile stretch.
We will see if I can live with it or not.
I am 95% going with the ix at this point.
The only thing that has me feeling like I need the V1 is the fact it seems to do better on laser. I know it's not much, but I have no plans on any other devices to detect laser for a while.
But then I loose the GPS, although that's not much of an issue right now. I don't like the idea of adding anything to the V1 like cheetah.
I usually replace a detector every 8 to 10 years, unless something really special comes along. So I want to make the proper choice.
If the V1 had GPS it would be a little easier to decide.

As a previous V1 owner (for 5 years), I'd stick with the 9500ix. I am not even that old, and the constant falsing really bothered me. Bothered me enough that's I'd resort to lowering the unit dramatically, leading me to ignore real LEOs. The 9500ix has very similar sensitivity to the V1 while being a lot quieter.

I will say the arrows on the V1 can be addictive.
