Default Lots of Laser alerts in CT

    Hi,

I just recently upgraded my 9500i to the 9500ix.

I live in northwestern NJ and drove up to Groton Connecticut at night on I95. From around Madison CT to Groton, I had over a dozen laser alerts and doubt that they were real LEOs. They occurred randomly, but mostly separated by about 5 minutes. I tried powering off/on and I still received the alerts. I turned the unit off because it was so annoying. On the return trip, same route, south, at dusk, I had a few hits, but again, do not suspect real LEOs. These alerts would come up as if I were getting hit, then drop off quickly and the unit would stop alerting -- similar to when you get an instant on hit.

Does anyone have any ideas about this or similar experiences? I'm hoping that there are others here who drive around that area.
I've heard that some vehicles, IE: Infiniti, have some type of laser guided cruise control, but don't know if that was the problem.

Additionally, I left my X band on to see if I would get the alerts I typically get in CT (around New Haven to Branford area) and I did not get them. I am confused because my 9500i (and previous detectors) would go crazy.

    Thanks

I live in CT and drive 95 allot. There are drones that give off X & K band but not laser.
Are you sure it was Laser alerts, because it sounds like my experience with X band on 95.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, definitely laser. I cannot explain why. My wife was complaining so much about it and I was telling her that I need to know if the unit was malfunctioning. It happened from around Old Saybrook and before Groton. I had a couple alerts on the way back, but nothing like on the way up (north). Anybody know of vehicles that may set it off? May be someone around me caused it?

I think you replied to a post I did a while back about X band in CT. I used to get a lot of X band alerts with my old 7500 and 9500i (not 9500ix). I did not get them this time on the 9500ix. I'm puzzled. In the Orange area where you get off the Merrit Prkwy to get on 95, up through Branford (from there and family there).

It was fine back in NJ. I'm anxious to do another trip and see what happens.
I may log a call with Escort to put this on file.

    Thanks

Don't forget that the hi-end Japanese vehicles have laser-based cruise control/ranging...My V1 picks this stuff up daily on both the front and rear sensors. The duration is never more than a few seconds. The Infinitis appear to be the worst.

FWIW, my X50 has never detected this type of signal. Has the laser section finally been improved in the newer Escorts

there are a tone of expensive cars in CT that use laser guided features. And i do believe the 9500 series laser sensitivity has been improved. I have had allot of good encounters/saves.
