Default Smart Cord Help

So I picked up two x50 blue's from a friend earlier today, they both work fine. But problem is I had no cord, so he gave me his old one that was busted. It is a smart cord but one of the connectors on the RJ11 are broken or busted because it only works when it is held in there a certain way. Is there a way for me to push them a certain way so it works or basically, any cheap and EASY solution?

Thanks for your help

It's rj9, the only cheap fix would be to buy a cheap rj-9 female connector and replace the one that's there, but chances are buying a new $10-20 cord is going to be better worth the money then buying a $5 jack and jimmy-rigging it.

Thanks. As you can tell from me not knowing it was an Rj9 jack, how hard is it to jimmy rig one?

I don't suppose it would be to hard, just unsolder the wires from the back of the female connector that's already there and solder them to a new female connector.

With how much knowledge I have it seems easier to buy a new smart cord. Hmm, that sucks. Any videos you guys know showing how to do that though?

Couple of ideas:

1) You may be able to go Home Depot or Lowes and get a new rj end and tool to replace the broken connector. I haven't done it, but in theory it should work.

2) If you have a Fry's around, they may have the Belltronics smart cord. I was in one over the weekend and they had them for $19.99.

How to buy a smartcord?

J/k, no, I don't think anyone would seriously waste the time replacing the jack when for $5-10 more they can just buy a cord.

Yeah, another smart cord is $30 and a regular cord is $15. Is there a major difference between the smart cord and a regular cord for a guy driving on city streets and the occasional highway?

Smart cord just lets you mute it easier w/o reaching all the way up to the radar detector. I'm sure fleabay has them for less then $30

The cords do basically the same thing. It all depends on how you want your install to be.

Wire hidden = Smartcord
Wire hanging = Regular cord

Yes, the Smartcord has extra contols/function, but I would say the main benefit is a clean install.
