Default Where to mount a hardwired x50?

I bought a X50 a few minutes ago from Roy. I will be hardwiring the unit high along the windshield of my Lexus 400h. Any ideas on how to mount this thing? I don't really want to bother with suction cups....

Hello....i'm am pretty close to ya, I live in Corydon,IN. The only thing I was gonna say is that the sunction cups included with the Escort X50 are built pretty good and I haven't had any problems with them coming off or not sticking. If you need to take the detector off the mount it slides right off as well.

The problem i have with hardwiring newer models now a days is that, it will be diificult to run the wires through the windshield pillar because of the side curtain airbags. I am hesitant to pull those pillars out to hide the wires. I have an 05 LTD sienna and wanted to do it but can't. The windshield is way out forward and this makes it harder for me to reach it. I opted by using the suction cup and installed it close to the rearview mirror with the wire visibly hanging. Maybe someone with exprience doing this with side curtain air bags can pitch in.

I thought the side airbags were built into the seat. Mine are... I have an '01 Impala. Maybe other cars are different...I dunno.

I use the suction cups on my V1 and the power wire runs inside the headliner, down the A-pillar to my fuse box.

The side airbag is different from a "side curtain airbag". I believe the RX400h has a side airbag and a side curtain airbag. The later is the one that comes out from the roof top like a curtain and has it for every rows and is located on each pillar. Chances of taking off the pillar to hide the wiring can cause malfunction of the side curtain airbag.

Ahh...my bad. I can see where that might present a problem.

Could you maybe just tuck it under the front side of the A-pillar? Not take it off, but just tuck the wire under the front side using like a flat screwdriver?
