    Default 9500 ix

Has anyone noticed better performance after the recent download.
The normal k band drone on the interstate that I do all my testing with normaly gives me a .8 mile notice. Now after the download I am getting a 1 mile warning. I know that is not a huge difference but I will take it. The V1 gives me 1.1 mile notice.

What recent download? The only recent download is the Location database which won't affect your radar range in any way. It's only GPS coordinates.

I thought you sent your 9500ix's back twice? You're trying it again?

Yep, decided it's ok tohave a V1 and an ix. They are both special in there own way. Just like kids.
Just got it Friday, did the latest download and started using it this week.

Just like kids if one was ugly, loud and dumb and the other was pretty, quiet and smart. Sorry, could not resist.

Hey man I think the V1 is a work of art. It's unique, like Happya$$ says, like a 911.
The ix looks like every other model out there. But lets not get into a 25 page debate over which detector looks the best. It's all good baby!

Well I'm still evaluating my 9500ix and so far it falses more than my V1. My V1 is v.1.8 pre pop with software 3.619. It's so old I'm beginning to think it may be out of tune and I'm considering sending it in for a tune up. So far the 9500's falses don't bother me because I figure I can lock the locations out as they're in the city and consist of either a grocery store door (X band) or a Walgreen's (K band). I also like the ability to mark known VASCAR speed traps.

If your 9500ix falses more than your V1, your V1 is broken and you need to send it in.

I am going to send it in to have it checked. Being a pre pop model I wasn't sure if it just falsed less than the newer ones. I know it works because a couple of days ago I picked up a Ka alert behind me and had a good range on him. A few seconds later a city cop came flying by me and pulled a car ahead of me. Ka band seems to work fine, but I'm worried that the other bands may have drifted out of tune. X and K are where most falses are where I live and I'm not getting that many any more.

This morning I was running the 9500ix and just as I merged onto another interstate I got hit with Ka band. It ramped up quickly and then faded a few seconds later. Without the arrows I didn't know where it was coming from and I never noticed the car. But it happened so fast and I was in the process of merging onto the interstate he probably was in a car that was passing by and was blasting the oncoming traffic.

I'm going to give the 9500ix a good workout as I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip across the state and will be on the road for about 8 hours.

Thanks for the feed back on the V1, it confirmed what I've been thinking and I need to box it up and send it in for a tune up.

    *** Update ***

Took the detector out at lunch today and hit some known X and K band doors. It picks up the K band, but not the X band ones. So it seems my X band reception is out of tune. I've never modified it to turn X band off so it's definitely a problem with the unit. On the other hand since K and Ka are working fine I may just leave it alone and enjoy a quiet detector
