I think someone mentioned in a previous most it the radar part of the STi-R head would work on the 9500ci but the laser signal would not as the 9500ci is looking for laser through the ZR4 heads.

Cat4 is correct. MPS, did you check the inline connector on the 9500ci's antenna cable? The connector is located roughly four or five back along the cable coming from the antenna case. That connector is supposed to be watertight, but moisture can creep in. Or it could have simply become partially unplugged when you hit the bump. With the 9500ci powered off by removing its inline fuse, plug and unplug the antenna's inline a few times to break through any oxidation on its four internal pins. Then reinstall the fuse and see if that solves the problem. If so, then its a trip to the auto store to get a 99 cent pack of dielectric grease. Kill the power again by removing the inline fuse, put a small amount of teh dielectric grease in the inline connector and plug it back together, wipe off any excess grease with isopropyl alcohol and a rag, and then carefully wrap the connector's mating surfaces with several wraps of electrical tape. Finally, put one or two small wire ties around the electrical tape to prevent the tape from slowly unraveling due to engine heat.

The above is what I did for my 9500ci antenna's inline connector. It along with everything under the hood regularly gets blasted with the high pressure wand at the local car wash. I like to keep my engine really clean. Note that I also put dielectric grease inside every vehicle wiring connector under the hood too.

This seems to be the first non-squirrel induced problem with one of the new Belscort radar antennas. I'm curious to know what happened also.

Not really - I have so far sent the Sti-R back once and replaced two displays.

Early versions of the STi-R had a "Receiver Error" that was common and happened to me daily - mostly on units sold outside the US, but I got one.

Ather they fixed that I had a display go bad. At first I thought it was because I crimpted a wire when I snaked them through my dash and into my display cluster, so I moved the location when I got the replacement. The next one went bad after a few months also and Bel overnighted me a replacement for that one. I could never find anything wrong with any wires.

My radar detection still worked without the display. Obviously all I could do was hear the alerts, but that was enough when paired with the STi.
