Being a newbie, I got my first lasar hit this morning 8500 X50 went wild. I did not see any officer. Are false hits common? Wonder what caused it? Thanks

I have owned a X50 for three months now and have not had a single laser false alert.

Can you describe what you were doing at the time? I've heard people around here get falses when they are honking their horn, or using their cell phones, or using other laser devices such as an IR pointer. My father's car always gets a LASER false when honking his horn with my X50, it's funny sometimes cause it's like the Detector doesn't like the car ahead stopped at the green light either. LOL

In the few months I've owned mine, It has detected laser 10-12 times and I have never seen a LEO.

Yesterday it laser falsed when I started my van with the remote start. I don't know why it would false on that. At the van, a remote start is no different than a key start and it's never detected before on a remote start, which is the way I start it most of the time. I was at work in an enclosed parking lot so I know there were no lasers in the area.

I've also had mine false from the van horn too, but just once.

I had it on the tank bag of my BMW motorcycle when it hit. Normal route to work. Maybe a hidden LEO? I doubled back, and nothing. I'll take the same route tommorow., and report back. Thanks It is a new unit. Three weeks old.

I've had zero, zippo, nada laser falses with my X50, other than our EZ Pass toll booths, which drive detectors nuts.

Some high-end Japanese cars such as the Infiniti FX series have a laser automatic cruise control option that can set off detectors. My V1 goes nuts around those. I haven't had my X50 alert to one yet, though.

I haven't tried beeping the horn yet with my X50 hooked up, either.
