Here is a copy of the letter I am sending with the unit;
To whom it may concern;
Per the instructions in the back of my owners manual;
My Service order number (RA number?) is Bla Bla
My name and return address are;
Bla Bla Bla phone number Bla Bla....
The problem I am having with my 9500ix is poor sensitivity.
My first month of ownership was great. It picked up Ka (34.7 and 33.8) from over hills, around turns and even with large obstacles and lots of distance between the radar source and me. But, since that first month, my ix and I get surprised by all radar encounters (particularly Ka) that are not straight on and flat. (In hwy mode no less.)
I donít know if the fall off in sensitivity occurred before or after the firmware update I downloaded. (Ver.1.1) Iím sure Escort would not reduce sensitivity with a GPS enabled detector because there are almost no false alarms, but I wonder if the firmware might have loaded down the microprocessor with extra tasks, and slowed response time?
Whatever the reason, I need it to be as sensitive and responsive as it was when I bought it.
I have owned many high-end radar detectors, (Past: Beltronics vector 985, RX65, Present: Escort Rev 5 S7 X50, SRX, Valentine 1) and the detection capabilities of my ix (when new) were second only to my V1 by a slim margin. I hope you can bring it back up to those impressive standards.
I will update this thread when the unit gets back and I have a chance to test it....
