Default How extensive is the 9500i / ix database for Canadian red light / speed cameras

Hi, I just got a 9500ix this week and just did the software upgrade and database upgrade today.

I was just wondering how the downloadable database is for Canadian red light and speed camera's. I did a search first but did not see this question asked or answered.

Soon we will be seeing green light speed camera in both Calgary and in Edmonton, Alberta.

I've been reading a bunch on this unit and wanting to learn more. Used radar detectors for about 25 years now and did change my setting to expert mode as read in here. Suppose to be better for locked out area's I guess.

Any replies would be great on Canadian database for camera's.

Every speed camera and red light camera in the area will 95% chance of being marked in there. I would be willing to say more as My Cheetah has never missed any camera I have run into and Escort uses the Trinity database which was developed and maintained by the guys at cheetah

OK. I will be trying it out and seeing how it is.

Now, when we mark a speed and / or red light camera does our info get transferred to Trinity for review for the main database? or is it our own marked traps?

No it doesn't transfer as it would turn into a Trapster system as people would report too many false camera's There is an email address to contact the database managers who would check their records as to the area and possibly send someone to verify.

Heh.. Thats funny. I was thinking that the other night while I was driving home. I wondered it the unit would send all of my lockouts up. Then it dawned on me, a police officer could just purchase a unit and drive around locking everything out... including their own cars at their favorite hiding spots.

The only way around it would be to average out the reports. Moving to a curve would allow for intentional sabotage as well as accidental lockouts and filter them all out.

Well, I would think if they get 10-20 marks of a red light in the same spot then they would have local reps in each major city to go confirm the location. Maybe some bigger cities would see 25-50 people mark one same area.

Yes, that takes people resources but kinda makes it like the customers are volunteering data and they just have to confirm it. Like CVolvoRob says.,

No Canadians in here to say how the database is?

I will be using the 9500ix this week so I will find out.... but was curious yesterday to see if anyone up here had comments.

well, the reason I asked is up here stuff that I see in the USA always takes 6-9 months longer to get here.... so kinda wondered.

Great site... learning.... and not a newby to detectors... owned 10-20 over the past 20-25 years.

I even did a set up I read in Car and Driver or R & T years ago that used Bosch lights / 100 w blubs with army red covers that blocked visable light but sent out the 904N and jammed laser signals. I never got a ticket.. it seemed to work.

The database Escort is using has been around a while, its not new, just new to Escort. So you should be good to go in Canada.
