The many false alarms that I used to get in city driving with previous owned detectors no longer set off jarring audio warnings. Instead, now a single beep is sounds along with a visual "Stored" is displayed by the detector.
To me, this feature alone validates my upgrading to the 9500ix detector.
In accordance with the manufacturer recommendation, I placed the detector with its suction cups adjacent to and just left of the rear view mirror. The hard wire was hidden except for a few inches coming from the top of the header butted to the windshield. I had two problems with this arrangement.
Most importantly, its placement was too close for my eyes to gain immediate and proper focus. Second, I found the placement distracting.
I moved the detector to the top center position of the dash. The hard wire is now hidden running under the header butted the windshield.
I have not found any loss of radar or laser signals discernible by moving the unit from its adjacency to the rear view mirror to the top of the dashboard.
As each day passes, my estimation of this Escort model's value increases. It is indeed a real value enhancing my driving pleasure.
