    Default Question about RD

hi im pretty new here and i have recently bought a x50 from roy. I dont know much about RD and I have read here that you guys use this option on and off. I live in CHicago. Which Mode or Option should I have on most of the time? I was hit with a laser a few weeks back and thats why i opted to finally get a RD. I know my RD will not be as good and efficient to warn me in time. WHen a laser targets me what will show up on my X50?

It'll display "LASER" and make a sound that sounds like a really obnoxious cell-phone ringtone for about 5 seconds. You can't miss it.

Assuming the detector picks up the laser in the first place; it can be tricky to detect if the LEO is semi-skilled at operating the laser gun.

Welcome to the forum. Now that you have been lasered, time to read up on Veil and laser jammers.

A laser notification is a ticket detector, even with the best detector. You need Veil and/or a jammer to really be safe.

I agree with the second sentance in terms of what it takes to be safe. Solid advice for RD users.

I would disagree that laser detection is only ticket notification with the V1. There are both testing results and real world stories that show it is quite capable of picking up laser scatter and shoot through from vehicles ahead.

With the X50, you can take it out of the box, pop it up on your windshield, plug it in, turn it on, adjust the volume, and you're good to go.

But there are many options for tweaking the RD to your liking. From changing the display brightness to adjusting sensitivity on X band (city/auto/highway modes), which you can do with single button presses, to changing all kinds of stuff in the programming mode. In programming mode, you can change the idle display, make the sounds louder, change the info that is shown on the display during alerts, turn bands on/off including POP, and much more. Read the manual, or ask us here, we're willing and able to help you out.

Depends on where you are and what kind of driving you do.

I leave mine in highway mode, POP and X bands off, Expert Meter enabled. The X50 can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
