I haven't messed with this on the bench, and if someone has opened up the control module and posted pics I hanven't seen it. So, it's difficult to know exactly what is going on with it. It could be a simple voltage, but it's also possible that the control module sends a data signal to the main interface for each button function. To know one way or the other, we would have to know what is inside, or we would to probe it with a scope instead of a voltmeter and see if there is a data signal.
Of course, and easy way with the least likelihood of causing damage might be to just talk with Escort about getting another control module, and then simply connect your switches into the same place in the circuit as the originals.
I would ask MEM-TEK, he's had these modules apart a few times that I know of, and he has a 9500ci so if he does not know the answer I am sure he can figure it out.

I wouldn't think that this would be hard at all. I've done this before with other units but not the 9500ci. I'm waiting for it's replacement. Do you know what kind of switch they are using for the mute button?
If not then I'm sure that MEM-TEK would be able to find out. Should be pretty standard.
