Default Keep 9500i or buy 9500ix?

I just got 9500i from bestbuy for $319.99 yesterday but after reading more on this forum i'm not sure whether i should buy 9500ix instead for $504 from crutchfield.com or not .... then ebay 9500i to make some profit because i didn't even open the box yet.

so my question is should i keep the 9500i or should i sell 9500i then buy 9500ix for full price on crutchfield?

what's the pro and cons compare to 9500ix? better yet ... whats the difference between i and xi? some said 9500ix can update the software using the pc but what about 9500i? if i want to update 9500i do i need to send it back to escort or what?

    Thanks for your help

Keep it it's a really good deal unless you need the database for cameras which I don't even use and I don't use autolearn either, detection is the same on both?

X2, all that you need to know about the 9500i/ix is here: 9500I/ix Thread & TrueLock info: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/escort/26868-explanation-9500i-truelock-info-tricks.html

only small refinements between the i &ix, plus you can send your 9500I in to Escort to be updated to an ix anyway for $130.

*I* would keep the 9500i, as we are later in the products' life-cycle and early issues have been resolved.
I did the online upgrade and am VERY pleased with the results. (it helps to have a notebook computer available)

I can't know your driving habits but, the neatest feature of these GPS integrated detectors is Auto-sensitivity (speed-related 'dynamic' sensitivity). I'm not aware of any improvements from the i to the ix.

True-lock in an interesting tool, altho not yet refined enough for my liking. I use it sparingly, and only on X-band.
Mark-locations is a manual task anyway, so not affected by 'ix' capabilities.

    Auto-learn, frankly, scares me.

I have the opposite opinion of this. I think autolearn is fantastic and safer than manual locking out of signals. If you manually lock out a store door and the 9500 happens to be detecting a LEO's K band signal you didn't know was there, then that signal is locked out also. This does not happen with autolearn.

Also, with autolearn, comes auto-unlearn, which works perfect for me and might save the user a ticket one day from a LEO that happens to be sitting in just the spot.

Also, my perception is that the lockout radii are smaller when using autolearn, which equals safer.

i think i'll just sell my brand new 9500i online then buy a new 9500ix.

is it true that 9500i can not update and 9500ix can update using the pc?

You can update the software just no database.

If you can afford the ix, and can easily sell the i, then I'd go with the ix. How I see it is:

You will be very happy with the i.
You will be thrilled with the ix.

    Just my opinion.
