Question is it safe to use Manual Lock Out?

i just want to know whether it's safe to use Manual Lock Out ? because i heard issues about auto learn so i turned auto learn off.. but i got a little bit annoyed by the false alerts. I dont want to get into the habit of ignoring the alerts because if it is a real threat i'll be in trouble.

    thanks

TrueLock is a filtering mechanism. Any filtering comes with inherent risk. The risk is very small, but doesn't change whether you lock these signals out manually or automatically.

Manual lockout is better than using auto mode. Your radar detector does not have brains to know which ones to lock and are at risk. I can by experience lock a location with no risk at all and this is what the ci and the ix cannot do. There is no risk when you know what to lock, where to lock and which ones to lockout.

I totally disagree with this statement. This very well could make the lockout radius artifically large.

Never lock out a false alert source by driving up close to it. First, this will cause a 9500 series RD to set a very large (up to 1 mile) lockout radius. Second, being really close to the false alert source such that your RD's alert is pegged out well beyond max signal will cause adjacent frequency blocks to be locked out in addition to the single frequency block for the radar source's frequency. Its kind of like listening on one CB radio to a transmission from another CB radio which is located very close by. Some of the signal bleeds over onto adjacent channels.

I am always in highway mode, no reason to ever use another mode.

I use auto mode. Every time I try to use highway mode, I get sick of the quick false alerts that happen on the fringe of locked out areas.
