Default Escort External Speaker = FAIL

Today some car friends asked me to demonstrate my LI.

One of them had a palm and set my LI off. All of a sudden you hear warning beeps and then it went dead. We tried again but I heard no sound but saw the LED light flashing on my switch. I changed the jumper in my LI unit from "External Speaker" to "Internal Speaker" and sure enough the internal speaker worked fine.
Escort speaker wasn't even 6 months old and it's dead. What a POS.

I only had mine for like 6 months before I sold the bike, but mine was outside 100% of the time in rain and everything and worked flawlessly, I loved it.

I've had 3 of them, one each for my SRX, my 9500ci and my LI and have never had a single problem.

x2, never had a problem with mine. But i do use my Escort external speaker with an Escort product so everything matches up the way its supposed to.

Its possible the output for the LI to the external speaker may be too much and cooked it over time.

It's unlikely that the audio signal from the LI Speaker output would damage the Escort amplified speaker but if it did, send me the bill and I will gladly reimburse you for it.

Didn't you mention to the Escort rep that you wanted to use the speaker w/a LI? They probably sent you a $hitty one on purpose.

    note,
do you live in colder weather?

reason i ask is it seems the few people that have had issues with their speakers all live in colder areas, so i'm wondering if it has anything to do with the speaker being cold on startup and it is somehow "blowing" the speaker over time?

Wow Cliff, I'm so surprised that you offered that but that is totally not necessary. It's obviously nothing related to LI.

Plus, I love to poke fun of Escort anytime I can and this gave me a great reason to make a topic with "Escort" and "FAIL" in the same title.

I live in Southern Ohio, I doubt that is the reason. It in the past 2 months it hasn't been below 50 here.

Nope, however I'm going to just drive to their headquarters tomorrow in person and get it exchanged.
