There is an RLC not far from my home marked in the download escort database. It is BIG Houston intersection with 4 separate cameras for the intersection of TX H 249 and FM 1960. H 249 is a freeway and the service/frontage roads intersect with FM 1960. It has three tiers (freeway, ground level (redlights), and an underpass for drivers travelling through on FM 1960. If I approach this thing at a fair clip on the underpass or the freeway, the 9500ix alerts me (useless) that i am approaching a redlight camera. If i am exiting to the ground level of the intersection or approaching on the ground level of 1960 or the 249 frontage/service roads, i get nothing. At this point, i am usually moving at less than 40 mph, since the intersection is usually quite congested.
In another thread, a contributor stated that the 9500ix operated on a radius of interest principle, i.e., unless one is going at a given speed (what speed exactly is that?), there will be no alert (rate of change of position via GPS). This strikes me as a rather useless feature, since the only redlight running i ever got a ticket for was at a speed of around 30 mph (LEO).
For laughs, this intersection got featured on youtube because some of the first offenders caught by the system were HPD cruisers and metro buses.
Any help or comments would be most appreciated.
