Post Re: Opinions of the Passport 8500x50

It's a great unit. I've rarely had it fail me. Only once. It is the only detector i've ever got a speeding ticket with. Just naming of some personal facts. Although i've had my v1 fail me more so, and my bel sti. The x-50 just got instant on 35.5'd and I was the only car shot, there is nothing you can do about that. Also it had saved me coming through that stretch the first time. I was paying attention to my g/f and not my gadgets i guess that's what i get. So in my opinion the x-50 is a Great detector. It's not as "responsive" as a V1. Although sometimes it's nice to not hear the chicken little. It's all in preference, and where you live/travel in my opinion. If your in any droned out area whatsoever, i recommend the x-50. If you live where i do in rural america. Where the town is 700 large the V1 is your best bet. Considering there are no falses in town. Which here there aren't. If you go off, it's legit, or me playing around ofcourse.

The Sti? I'm still a bit reserved about it. I've seen far too much varience in it's relability. I personally think the X-50 is a more well built product, in the way of each unit being closer to one another. Escort still varies more than V1 but not as bad as STi.

I've also had my x-50 pick up laser scatter on multipule occasions. My v1 has only done it once picked up scatter. It has picked up me being shot directly more. But the x-50 i've had instances where it's picked up scatter a car to two ahead more often than my v1 which is totally not what other's backup on this forum. Although there are alot of VR zombies on this board as well in my opinion.

I did have my V1 save me with over 4,000ft of scatter one day. Unfortunatly i didn't get this first hit on video, but it was absolutely amazing to say the last. I was appauled when i past the Leo with the ProLaserIII Lidar. Seeing just how much scatter i owned before he actually shot me and my blinders jammed him.

That was the only Laser experience where i got an advanced on my v1.

The rest where just all direct shots on me.

Just like on my myspace page in my latest film speed enforcement II.

    Check it out.

My STi Didn't even pick up the laser beam. Granted i was visor clipped which is the worst i could be at, and the V1 was windsheild mounted which is biased. Although it was the best i could do in such a hurry to get the shot. And i've had my Sti pickup people shooting me with ProLaserII frontally, with it on my visor that far out. So idk it just didn't go off. It wasn't mounted well for laser either so keep this in mind. This is also why i mentioned the positioning of mounting in the film.

Well. Hope this info helped you make ur choice.

    Take care.
