Tag Archive | "escort"Escort releases RedLine – the muscle car of radar detectors – with up to 13 mile radar and laser detection
Posted by Wayne Schulz in Diary Entries

Escort’s out with their latest radar detector
they’ve nicknamed “the muscle car” of all radar detectors. In their press release VP of New Product Development Tim Cooner say’s they took the RedLine out to the Speed Measurement Labs annual shootout and measured signal detection at an eye-popping 13 miles distance. And, yes, I’m sure the 13 miles was on a flat track in the desert – but it’s still an impressive measurement. Priced at $449 this model will appeal to the diehard radar fan and is also compatible with their Laser Shifter ZR4 (laser blocker). New features include dual antennae, totalshield technology to make the detector undetectable by the fuzz, programmable alert lamp, specdisplay to provide numeric radar frequency for any signal, programmable Ku-band for European travel, detects and decodes up to 64 safety warning messages.

Escort recently released their new radar detector known as the Redline, where this model brings dual antennas to the core in order to provide a much longer range compared to competing products. According to Escort, this detector is able to recognize radar as well as laser signatures from as far as 13 miles away - which ought to be far enough for you to slow down in time before you get slapped with a speeding ticket. If you're always on the go and love putting the pedal to the metal, then the Escort Redline ought to be your cup of tea as it ships this August for $499.95.

Good ol' high power X-band, I believe it.

    Is it realistic? Nope.

According to the ARTICLE, "According to escort" it can detect both radar AND "laser signatures" up to 13 miles away.. the use of the word and implies it can detect laser up to 13 miles as well.. I'm thinking the person who wrote the article is misquoting.

If they had a high enough powered LIDAR gun to get a 13 mile reading, I'm sure even the RedLine can sniff that out.

I, however, believe they would only use a LEO powered LIDAR gun, and, I agree, are misrepresenting data from the article.

I bought 30 miles range MIDLAND Walkie Talkie,
only gets a 1 mile or less around town. 2-3 miles in Desert. This 30-mile range claim is so far from reality that I'm REALLY disappointed. They should plainly state that for most applications this product won't even achieve a mile of range...
Hopely this is not same with Redline...

That would have to be one heck of a lidar setup to pick it up 13 miles away. X band "could" be feasible, but that's just so hard to believe regardless of the rd.

Honestly, radar that is active 13 miles away isn't even appealing to me. Hell, my communte to work is't even 13 miles.

13 miles of range isn't a big eye catcher for me, it wouldn't matter in a real world situation, which is all I care about.
