Default New forum member tired of the 9500ix

Ok so I am new to this forum but I am not new to radar detectors. Prior to getting the 9500ix I had a V1 (best detector IMO). I have a 07 Chrysler 300 I have alot of upgrades and customising done to my car so I had alot of cigar plug wires floating around, So when the 9500ix came out and I heard members on this forum saying that it was better than the V1 I thought ok I need this. I should also say that I live in Montgomery Village, Md and my oh so smart legislators decided to put up those dreaded speed cameras, in the first month of just 1 camera location they mailed 45,000 warning letters so I also needed a speed camera countermeasure. So I decided to sell my trusty V1 which I had had for a year and take the plunge on this piece of junk, after reading reviews from some of the forum members. I have had this unit for 4mos and have used it for 3 yes I know where is the other month well I lost a month of use because the unit had to go back to Escort for repairs twice the first time was a week of having it and then after the second month. oh and by the way it had to go back because I received a speeding ticket because the piece of junk sounded of when I got right next to a Montgomery county officer running 34.7 KA. The first time I sent it back it was the anteena the second tme it was the anteena now I am just tired of this thing and I cant sell it because I am seeing no resell value not like when I sold my V1 the most I could hope to get is $320 (I have researched) paid $564 I purchased my V1 for 399.00 and sold it for 350.00 1 year later I am seeing 9500ix's on ebay selling for way less around the $300 mark. If this thing is so good why is it reselling so low, and before some of you start jumping on me I believe that I have been more than patient with this thing and escort I find it crazy that after only 4 mos and spending $564 9500ix plus gold package that this thing has already broken and had to go back 2 times already. The first time it went bad I was lucky I knew something was wrong and I had my uncle help me test it he is a col. in the Md state police we tested it with 34.7 & 35.5 guns and a old K band gun the range was just terrible the farthest aler I got was at 237 feet we compared it to another 9500ix a 9500ci and a V1, the 9500ci and V1 were identical my cousins 9500ix did a little better at 614 feet farthest warning. I find it hard to believe this detector is as good as a V1 I have not seen it yet I really wanted to like this unit but I can't after my ordeal and on top of that I have been saved 2 times on I270 by drivers using V1 because I was receiving no alerts. I was tired and had to get this of my chest and also because I am stuck with this piece of ****.

Wow.......your experience with the 9500ix reminds me of my experience with my last (3) V1s! I had one at 3.864 that I sent back twice for poor 34.7 detection then gave up on it..........sold it and bought another new one earlier this year at 3.872. It detected like a champ for about two weeks then crept down to slightly better than line of sight by the time I dumped it. I babied these things to..........never left them bake in the sun.

First I went to a 9500ix.......I loved everything about it except the lack of audio alerts under 20mph. I'm sure your aware of this right..........the 9500ix gives you an initial double beep and then remains silent if your traveling under 20.

I ended up exchanging it for a 9500i before my 30 day period was up for this reason. I like to hear the ramp up even if I'm stopped in traffic. I'm happy with mine now............my detector now alerts well BEFORE I see the cop!

Just bad luck........neither the V1s I had or the 9500ix you have are representative of the breed. Put a post in over at the EscortRadar forum.....the Escort Rep who monitors the website is a good fella, he'll get you taken care of.

X2, s**t happens and sometimes ruins a potentially good experience. Too bad there aren't lemon laws for things like this.

I had 3 9500's and not one had a problem, and my current ix has worked like a champ.

biggkatt01, you can resell your 9500 and get a good amount for it back, it holds its value ok, but not like a V1 which is hard to come by.

For me I couldn't live without my 9500ix, its way too cool and has saved me way to many times in ways the V1 cant. But if I had your same experience i would want to switch too.

PS: I cant spell and dont have good grammar, but run on novels are just a no no.

By the way, there might be something interfering with your RD's reception and would do it with a V1 too. Did you get a new car with the 9500? It may have a windshield that blocks radar reception.

I don't even attempt to read something that looks like that, since I know I would never make it through it all.

This sounds like a I/O encounter to me. No RD could've saved you.

well if you go sniffing around in the Escort forum sure you will find raving reviews of the 9500ix, but guess what the V1 is still king.
