Question Just got my new 9500ix

After a long delibration on whether or not I should buy the 9500ix vs the v1. I do a lot of city driving with the 2 a week highway venture. I was wondering how should I progrm it? Does it need it?

    Thanks

I say just use whatever display you like and leave it as is, but others here like to micromanage their 9500s.

X2, only addition would be to use Highway mode and at some point try Expert mode for a while.
Turn AutoLearn on after a few weeks driving with it if you wish.

Congratulations, you should love your new RD. Just make sure to update the database if you have traffic cameras and/or red light cameras in your area.

    Personally, I enabled expert mode.

    1. Be sure to set the 9500ix in highway mode to ensure max detection range

    2. Keep Autolearn on until you have looked all the falses out on your daily commute. Then turn it off. Using this feature comes with a risk though...

    3. Check this thread to see what is being used in your area: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...-8-6-09-a.html

Sorry to here that, hope all goes well for you I will give you a little advice from experience, if something doesn't seem right with this unit it ain't, if you feel you are not getting good enough warnings you are not, have it tested and send it back.

I went through a lot of headaches with this unit don't get caught finding out this unit is bad by getting a ticket like I did, if you feel something may be wrong with this unit more times than not your felling is correct.

You can call it whatever you like I have the proof about what I talk, that's one of the problems with these forums some people feel that this new escort is the god of radar detectors, it ain't and I can prove it.

The V1 has been around since 1992 and yet the V1 has not changed it's looks only its software and still it out performs the competition, Every other manufacture has created this detector or that detector but it's different, 17 years and Whistler, Cobra, Beltronics and Escort have tried and still the V1 is still the most sensitive detector on the market I have tested the 9500ix against the V1 and a 9500ci in all the test the V1 out performs the 9500ix and rivals the 9500ci a $1000 dollar detector system and if you can't see that there is a problem with that then your a complete A** period.

I have tried the beloved 9500ix because I needed it I needed it for the rlsc functions but I am a Tractor Trailer driver I can't afford to lose my license or my job because some a**hole decides to pull me over and give me a citation because I am over the limit by 5 mph ( like the stupid cops in Md due). like what happened with your beloved 9500ix, I have had some version of the V1 since 1995 and since hen when I have had it in the vehicle I have operated no speeding ticket ( only tickets when I didn't have my V1) I get the 9500ix have it for 4 Mos and 2 speeding tickets because this stupid thing didn't go off until it was to late.

So you can make any comment you like I have real world test showing for me the 9500ix is below the V1 in what I need it for. and I shouldn't have to pay $1000 to get a detector that's on par with a $400 detector. that's just stupid.

We can debate and fuss all you like but guess what 17 years later there still trying to beat a $400 dash mount detector and what has been the solution a $1000 detector yeah that's some solution it's sad and laughable at the same time.

I appreciate your experience, but that doesn’t change the fact that you are trolling. The original poster had nothing to do with a bad experience so your response made no sense and had nothing to do with any of the replys.

My responce to your expereance and your thoughts is in MEM-TEK's thread that again you were trolling.

By the way, its illegal for a trucker to use a RD, so you may loose your license because of that. I drove for quite some time and never used a RD while driving my truck. Its unsafe to drive recklessly in any way with a truck.

Stealthy, turn off x-band on your 9500ix, but don't turn off K. Good luck with the new toy.

BigKatt is like the opposite of pyroboy on youtube.
