Hello guys, i like to share my first experience w/ the 9500i. I choose the 9500i because i thought it looked good and its not as big as the famous V1. However, before my first hand experience w/ it these past couple of days on our trip from Vancouver, BC, into Portland, Oregon, I was filled with doubts. But that was easily forgoten whenever i remembered the price tag - 550$CAD. How could something w/ that price tag have dissapointing performance, when other RD are 200$ and lower????
Well, here goes the story.
Ive had other RD before, but i think they weren't as expensive as the 9500i. Also, the previous ones alarmed just about every other block. If i can recall, i think it was a bel 980/970 or something. Yup, i think that pretty much describes it. It alarmed so many times that I never got a chance to break the PSL. But that was over 7years ago, and it got stolen then. I nver owned another one until now.
Oh boy, i was so exited about this trip. My mom and my GF thinks that this trip is about them going shopping for the long weekend, but its really about me and the 9500i.
Well, so far im happy w/ this RD. My experience w/ it is
it sometimes recieves X band but there's no leo so i don't know what's up w/ that. I guess there must be an X band comming from somewher in the planet.
When it alarms Ka band, slam on the brake because the probability of a leo is high.
Im not sure if i got lasered directly, but all i know is when it started chirping laser, i didn't feel so vulnurable. I heared my inner voice saying, "OMG, there's a LEO guaranteed". Then i felt sad because i realized that it could just be an Infiniti, then back to super happy when i passed LEO w/ his laser several seconds later. Yeehah......I consider that a save because i do have a heavy foot, and god knows what could have been the outcome w/out the 9500i.
On Ka band, this thing kicks ass. Or i guess cops are either using Ka or laser only on US highways. Most of my Ka warnings were real threats. There were a number of times where it chirped only once on weak signal, then a few seconds later, i would pass leo who's already got a customer. Im not sure what band signal it was whenever it happened and/or if it was just a coincidence. But it did happen more that once. Weird.
Im also sure it saved me on an instant on. The RD chirped a strong Ka warning but only for a brief moment....Then another chirp w/ several seconds of time in between. Then momens later, i see a LEO hiding in the middle of the highway. Wow, it acutally alarms way before you pass the radar source. Cool.
