    Default Redline "The Lip"

    Just trying to figure out what we really know about the Redline.

    * Its ugly
    * Good detection, except for the QTs
    * Shipping with wet paint
    * Ramp up fair
    * Waiting for GOL testing
    * So far not A V1 killer
    * WONT ALERT AFTER 2:00 am

    We will make the follow up test even better and we will use settings like POP off and highway

    haha, that's just Belscort doing what they do best. Screwing up several key things that take a detector from average to the best.

    Right now it's just an average dash mount, without GPS. What does this mean? It's not going to see anything off axis, because Belscort would rather it stay quiet than save you from a ticket.

    How's the ramp up?

    Not bad... and by "Not Bad" I mean:

    Nice Steady ramp up> Drop alert for 10 or 15 seconds with source directly infront of you> POW come back full alert. Escort.

    See the Video posted by Cbr here for the Redline ramp-up:

    So, let's keep score:
    1. Sensitivity - slightly and inconsistently above average.
    2. Responsiveness - Horrible as the 9500
    3. Ramp Up - Horrible as the old STi.
    4. Big, pointless flashing red lights spoil stealth to the rear.
    5. Big, pointless bottom lip prevents mounting high for stealth.
    6. Price - $500 dollars
    There is nothing that can possibly turn this into a win without completely redesigning the detector.

    The respectable QT performance on 35.5 but dropping the alert during a 35.5 constant on encounter is puzzling to say the least.

    Almost makes me wonder if the radar itself stopped transmitting temporarily for some reason. But we heard that ELVATO was monitoring the Doppler tone, so he would have noticed that. Either the Redline has a very weak lobe to the left, or else it randomly drops out for no reason at all.

    Dude, that video was made at like 2am in the morning, and it is a single observation. If a v1 video surfaced where that happened, people would either say it was an environmental fluke or the unit needed to be repaired...

    Until this proves repeatable with a different unit and gun, I think we have to cautiiously treat it as a fluke.
