    Default Bad Escort 8500 x50 S7

I picked up an X50 S7 on craigslist, plugged it in and appeared to work (powered up, no service error) so I bought it. From what I've seen, the S7 X50 is a bit better overall than the 8500, and I prefer the blue display vs the red on my 8500..

Well come to find out it doesn't work, it will not detect radar. I also reset it, no change..

So I'm curious if I have Escort fix it, will they "upgrade" it to an M4? If so, I don't really see the point in having it and I'll just swap the blue display into my 8500 and cut my losses...

    Thanks..

If they agree to work on it, which I believe cost around $65-70 bucks, they will not change the horn to the M4. That would require a change in the board as well. More than likely they will put another S7 horn in, tune it and run a diagnostic on it.

They should be able to diagnose and repair it for $49.95. Call customer service.

Thanks a lot! I shall call them tomorrow. If it is only $50 I'll still not be into it that much $$$, but I'm still kinda upset, first time I've been burned on craigslist

If it's a S7 they will not upgrade it to a M4. When I had the antenna replaced on mine a few years ago it cost me around $60.

Repairs are $59.95, I have always had a free Smartcord and windshield mount when I get it back. You'll also get a card from the tech saying what was done. If it is an S7, it will come back an S7. I bought a used X50 that was an M4, the display was bad, although it was still in warranty. When I got it back, the card said it had been fixed before. (And lucky me, for some reason they had switched out the M4 (previously) and it was a Rev. 5 S7) The FCC ID said M4, go figure.
