Default Could you send in an Sti and ask for it to be flashed into a Redline?

    I don't see why not.

As far as I'm concerned, the Redline is just a different variation of the M3 platform--basically Escort's version of the in-car/dash/visor mount of the Beltronics Sti.

So, it should be feasible to send in your Sti and have Belscort re-program it into a Redline. You'd have your Sti shell, but theoretically you'd have Belscorts latest and greatest performing detector out there.

Hmmmmm---Is the redline "really" any better than the STI!

I'm sure they could. In fact, if you send in your out of tune V1 , they can also uplevel that into a RedLine for only $420. That might actually be a better deal in the long run. I think they replace the shell for that though.

Are the antennas the same in each RD? If the Redline was as good as the hype, people might be interested but the initial reports aren't good,

No. Just like the CI has different innards from the STI, so does the Redline. A hardware swap and Software flash would be in order to make a STI a Redline.

IMHO, after driving with both units for a week, I would not recommend converting an STi to a Redline.
The only thing that matters is not getting caught.

Not in my ride. I did not feel that there was a performance difference between my STi and the Redline I played with. Probably manuf. variance but it's a no for me.

Manufacturing variance aside, there's not likely enough difference between the STi and Redline to make it worth changing from one to the other.

Now if you prefer Escort's alert tones/voice and expert mode over Bel's, then you probably have a point.

But there are likely enough hardware changes in the Redline such that the Redline firmware won't be compatible with the STi hardware.
