    Default Performance of the 9500ix

Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR - LASER

I'm looking at the 9500ix charts on this link, and it shows its almost on par with the bel gx65 (its competitor). It does a rating when you turn off the gps , which apperently lags the system and performs less when on.

I soppose these findings pretty much shows that 9500ix with gps on is great for city drivers (and its highways). But the V1 is for long stretch dessert/prarie/mountain driving?

That's where the V1 really shines. The arrows and lack of false alerts on the highway make the V1 more suited to highway driving. Muting on the V1 can make it more tolerable for city use by suppressing some K-band alerts.

That's pretty much how it breaks down. Most prefer the 9500ix for city driving, but prefer the V1 for highway driving.

No, it performs better with GPS ON, as weird as that may seem.

    Read it again.

Why am I the only one catching this?

GX65, 9500i, 9500ix are all basically THE same detector. Only difference is 9500ix has autolearn. And GX65 has a Bel label.

They may have tweaked the processor for autolearn. Probably more memory. I think the variation in performance is probably the same as same model to same model as it is between these models. You'd have to test a whole lot of them to proove that statistically though.

Because you are a dedicated forum member. Remember how you caught my mistake too?

Mswlogo is correct. The IX performs better with GPS ON.

Negative. The 9500ix with "GPS" on was tested against more bands than with "GPS" off, that's why it has a higher "score."

    Read the fine print:

NOTE: In the charts below, the cells filled with black denote things which were not tested.

Band for band the 9500ix scored a "9" with GPS off and a "3" with GPS on.

The 9500ix picked up 6 of 6 Ka 34.7 alerts with GPS off and 2 of 6 with GPS on. It picked up 3 of 6 Ka 35.5 alerts with GPS off and only 1 of 6 with GPS on.

Good point. Seems sometimes it improved with it on and sometimes it improved with it off. I'd say it's inconclusive or a wash then give the sparse data.

    Default Performance of the 9500ix

My 9500ix seems to work better with GPS off than on, I've read some threads that it works better on than off, but it works better for me off, but I wouldn't mind testing it both ways just to see what works better.

The only data I've seen is GOL Q/T tests. And is pretty dead even. But if you want to nit pick the data it shows it's better on overall. But on one frequency it was better off. Might as well have an X50 if you keep it off.

I don't see the point of using the 9500ix with gps off, even if the performance improves slightly. Kind of defeats the whole purpose.
