Redline Software Update

I just spoke to a Escort Rep. and told him I had sent my Redline back because of the Service Required Issue. Also I told him I saw a QT problem and a signal Drop issue. He told me they were now in stock now ready to ship and there was a software fix for those problems. May Try again!!

Just Kidding... this is good news if Escort really did fix all these issues, especially so quickly (It really hasn't been that long that we have been complaining).

Now I am not going to hold my breath at all, as this would be very bad for my health... as we know Escort will say just about anything, and their CS reps and tech department always seem to have a HUGE disconnect.

Again it reinforces the idea that you should just wait for Escort to work out the kinks, instead of be a Beta-tester.

They need the beta testers or else Escort wouldn't realize their RD's had probelms. They sure work fine for the average user.

I wonder how Escort does beta-test its products. I know they handed out a few Redlines to people like RadarRoy and The Veil Guy, but I wonder how many units they do send out for beta testing. If it's only a few that could explain why some intermittent issues aren't discovered until after the public release when everyone gets their hands on them.

Well, I just got off the phone with Escort. The guy I spoke with .... put me on hold to ask his supervisor how to handle the situation. Within a couple minutes, I was told that my unit will be repaired not replaced within the week. I was also told that Escort does acknowledge an issue with 35.5 and that they will have a shipping label sent out immediatly for a return of my Redline. They would not go into details, but the guy mentioned that it is a software issue that will need to be resolved. I asked him if he had heard of this issue before. He told me that it was not issue before, but was "quickly becoming one".

Thank you for pointing this out CJR238. It's nice to know that we are held to a higher standard than other detector companies. I think many are missing that others are reporting excellent results with their RedLine's and are reporting the industry leading detection that we promised with RedLine.

We do extensive testing on EVERY detector that ships out our doors. Unfortunately borderline or inconsistent problems do not always arise at testing so they can get out to our customers, although it is rare. Our very liberal refund and repair policies are in place to handle these rare occurences. It appears that CBR's RedLine was just such a borderline unit because we have not seen a consistent, common, problem with the RedLine and have not been able to replicate this "glitch" in our testing.

If you believe that your unit is not functioning properly, please send it to us and we'll have our technicians thoroughly test it for you.

If we needed a recall we would recall them. We did find a glitch with some 9500i to ix conversions and we issued a recall for these. We have found no common RedLine problem that Cbr's unit seems to have.

I'd like to get clarification of this, given the chronology, that Cbr first received phone/voice confirmation of such an issue - as well as pending fix - approximately 3 weeks ago, which was then categorically denied by Escort, but which is now, according to NCSPEEDER's phone conversation, something that has been addressed (and was thus acknowledged).

I'd like some reconciliation of what's been said/claimed.

According to a CS rep I spoke with today there is a software fix out there for RedLine's experiencing delays / dropped alerts.

Appears to be an issue where the detected signal is on the fringe of the Ka frequency blocks being scanned.

I have a return label and will be shipping mine back to pick up the software update tonight.

If you ask me, Escort is not being very forthcoming with this information.

Escort needs to officially announce what's going on, and come up with a coherent statement.
