    Default big disappointment today

so i was driving about 68-70mph on the freeway
had my 9500ix turned on.and gps on

and theres a known speedtrap where i got pulled over once already.

the cop was just few feet further down the hill this time.

with his gun pointed.(motorcycle cops 2 of them)
so i know he was shooting it prior to me flying by at 70.
because as you get to the top of the hill is where they get you and wait for you to roll down the hill.
i was in the left lane that was almost completely open

the readar detector was dead silent the whole time.

not even a single blink or noise came out of that thing.

but the whole time ive been driving in the city and where i live that POS picks up every damn door opener and all the other garbage around me.
cops follow me around the city and other known speed traps -its silent...

im extremely disappointed with it. what is the point of radar detector when it doesnt detect anything but door openers... USELESS!!!

I'm guessing the LEO was using laser not radar. All radar detectors struggle against picking up laser. Don't except your RD to save you from police laser. Did you catch a glimpse of the gun? Did it look like one of these:

Laser Guns - Guys of LIDAR

Sounds like they were using laser and not radar. Laser guns can target a vehicle without setting off the radar detector. A laser jammer is the only effective defense against laser use.

yea by the looks of it he was using either Stalker LZ-1 or Kustom Prolaser III

but isnt 9500ix supposed to pick up lazer also when directly aimed?

    Features
    Blistering All-Band Protection

    ,360-Degree Radar and >>>>Laser Detection<<<<

so i almost 95% guarantee i was shot with the lazer because i drive a lowered 98 acura integra with CF hood and spoiler and all the stereotype addons that cops love... so ill be the first one on the speed suspect list..

The laser protection advertisement entices buyers to buy the RD thinking it will save them from all threats including police laser. In reality though, a radar detector will save you from radar but not laser. If it does pick up the laser signal, then the officer will already have your speed by the time you get an alert; it will be too late.

The laser gun does not shoot a big pattern, spreads out the farther away you are, but is only a couple feet diameter in closer shots. The small pattern allows them to target you without your ix seeing it. The Valentine one is the best dash mount for picking up laser, but most of the time when it alerts you are the target and its too late to slow to PSL.

well i had it for few weeks and so far i have not seen good results.

so if cops are using lazer most of the time what is the point of having a radar detector?

in other words we are getting punked by radar detector companies to make us belive that they still work...

Wrong. Radar detectors work against police radar. To deal with laser, you need to look into a laser jammer system. Have you had any police radar encounters yet? Also, where are you located?

Some things don't work because the operator doesn't take the time to learn to use and understand them.
