    Default 9500ix Serial Number Cut-off

What changed in the 9500ix starting with serial numbers beginning with 22?

Detector Tools V1.5 on the ESCORT 9500ix download site states:

Version 1.5 of Detector Tools is a * * * "Required download for PASSPORT 9500ix units that have a serial number beginning with 22 "

So what's the deal with the 9500ix units with those later serial numbers?

Don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the new models that can be powered up through the USB connector. This was mentioned on the Escort forum.....

    Unable to add a link.....

"Very new 9500ix's are capable of power through USB alone, no pwr supply is needed. That is the only change, they still have the same feature set and detection specs. I doubt that the ones which Best Buy has on their shelves today are these units, they just started shipping, but they could be."

I think I had it for around 4-5 days before I registered it online. Then had a hell of a time trying to figure out about the detector tools and updating the markers. I thought I was going to hose it up for good, but it was a real milestone for me that I didn't. I'm afraid to try the marker update again before the 3 month free update time runs out. But sometimes I get a little bored & brave and may try it near the 3 month period for the latest then. Then again, maybe not.
Beside the marker update, there was also a firmware update which I didn't launch. I was too confused by then to try anything else.
What is confusing you? The update process is extremely simple.

The cut-off should not involve the TSR update, because the TSR can be put on 9500ix's manufactured prior to the "serial numbers starting with 22" cut-off.

I'd be interested to see the "USB-powered" claim confirmed by ESCORT, because the 9500ix operates on 12 volts input and the USB only provides 5 volts.
