Default Old 8500 vs. x50 test coming at end of December(road trip)

I am taking a road trip from Phoenix, AZ to Kansas City, MO right after christmas. I will be testing the performance between the original escort 8500 and the new x50. I will also be purchasing the newest Blinder M-20 when I get in Phoenix. All three of these will be used in the test and will be on a 2000 honda civic. I'll keep you updated on the route and results as I go.

So far our journey is going to take us through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and then into Missouri but there is a possibility of a detour. Hopefully the weather will be good enough through this journey for this test to take place. We are now also testing the two detectors for part of the journey on an 04' Dodge Ram 1500.

If your coming through Texas this week, there is a winter storm warning here tomorrow with sleet and ice. Be careful, slowing down is always a good decision.

I'll get the rev. numbers of each detector posted. I'm almost sure the x50 is the newest rev but the old 8500 is atleast 4 years old. Thanks for the help guys.

Our setup consisted of a dark blue 2003 honda civic with the x50 mounted about 8 inches above the dash on the left and the 8500 mounted at the same height on the right side. The space between the detectors was varried any where from 8 inches all the way out to 18 inches apart.

    Day1:
On our first day of the trip we went from phoenix and ended up in Gallup, NM. It was a pretty easy trip meaning that we did not run into many LEO's. As for the performance the falsing was about equal for both detectors. I also couldn't tell much difference in leakage causing one detector to effect the other. We did not meet our first LEO until we were about an hour away from Gallup. This LEO was shooting constant on K and moving towards us. The x50 gave a few seconds more warning over the original 8500 but either one would have given us plenty of time to stop. We estimated that we recieved about a 3/4 mile warning. About 30 minutes outside of Gallup we came upon some stationary speed signs shooting K band and decided to do a little testing even though it was 11 at night. We still found that the x50 gave just 2 seconds or less advanced warning over the 8500. All together amongest both detectors we had over 20 falses on x band switching over from city mode to highway mode when not in a large city and 2 falses on Ka (did not see an LEO atleast) on the 8500.

    Day 2:

Our setup remained exactly the same for the second day of our trip. We ended up making it from Gallup, NM to Edmond, OK. Throughout the day we saw very little action since we were just driving on smooth roads through the desert. The only action we did see was NM state troopers shooting constant on K once again and recieved one instant on K right as we crossed into Texas. The x50 gave a better warning that the 8500 about 90 percent of the time today but it was a second or less difference. We estimated that we recieved just under a half mile warning on the constant on warnings due to the rolling hills and small mountains. As for the instant on hit, both detectors alerted at the same strength at the same time. The hit came from just under 2 tenths of a mile away on flat terrain. Tomorrow we are planning on going straight to Witchita to hop on I70 and head towards Lawrence, KS. I am expecting to finally see some laser hits to finally see which detector is better than the other and will hopefully see some Ka band. If you have any other suggestions I will check this post in the morning before i leave.
