    Default What exactly occurs when....

you hit an ESD7000 with a radar source. I'm mainly talking internals here. Today I got the standard Ka false from a ESD7000 or what ever the similar wal mart variety is called today. So I see the driver on the phone, figure a few oncoming cars with I/O K during the conversation and the ESD will get it shut off; take out the bushnell turn it on and the cobra alert goes away entirely, release the trigger and get the blast of Ka, instead of the inital 3 beeps, this lasts about 5 seconds, hit it again, same thing. Try it one more time and sure enough same thing. So now I'm curious what inside the ESD's function change such that the detector will not leak during an alert but leak severely immediately following an alert.

I think Cobras "park" their LO sweep for a moment to verify signals, and this causes a CW emission from the detector during the "park". Depending on what frequency it parks on, it may either cause a false on your RD, or cause the false to stop momentarily.
