My 9500ix is really my first serious radar detector I've owned so I do not have too much experience in evaluating performance other than analyzing its behavior with the traffic conditions I've encountered so far.
In any event, I just have a general question. I have my 9500ix mounted below my rear view mirror with a mirror mount. The mount is very secure, but it uses the v-shaped (bent to more of an L-shape now) bracket that came with the 9500ix, I've noticed while driving that there is a lot of vibration. I live in NYC and the roads (especially in Brooklyn) are really bad, so that accounts for a lot of vibration, even the highways and freeways in NYC are horrible. To compound the situation, I have a pretty loud stereo system (2 12" Type-R Subs powered by 1500 watt Sundown Audio Amp) which obviously causes added vibration.
I didn't notice the vibration that much when it was window mounted, except I could hear it rattle on my window which did scare me a bit about damaging the electronics.
So my question is, can this vibration effect the performance of the 9500ix in general, and should I worry about internal damage from the vibration. I assume all cars are subject to vibration so the unit should be built to take a steady stream of vibration.
I plan on trying to reinforce the bracket to lessen the vibration, but I just wanted to know people's thoughts on this.
