escort and BEl are the same company, so escort sort of has come out with a spectre proof detector.

As for v1- we'll have to wait and see.

that is a good question though. i am also intreseted if they will come out with seperate detectors with an escort and a bel name kind of like the x50 and rx65. or will they just update the 8500 again??????

I hope they just update the 8500, they gave us microchips to upgrade us, so i hope they take advantage of it, I dont care for the invisibilty because radar detectors are legal here in cali, If they drop it and come with somthing new, I think I would join the v1 bandwagon becuase at least they upgrade their detectors and not just make new ones......

The only problem with offering a different chip is that the performance does not increase. Example: when the x50 came out you could update your old 8500 to the new program that included pop protection but the overall range and performance was not the same as the x50. But as many people will tell you on this board the old 8500 is right behind the x50 if not better in some categories. I'm thinking that V1 has an opening here and it just depends if they have the technology ready to take advantage of it.

I have never heard anywhere that an update to the 8500 was ever offered. I was under the impression that it was marketed as upgradeable, but never was upgraded to POP etc.....

When I had heard that Escort was coming out with the X50, I want to upgrade my 8500. I called Escort CS and they told me due to new hardware they wouldn't do anything, only software upgrades to the unit.

I wonder if Belscort will continue to offer two diffrient product lines. I would think that it might be cheaper to go down to just one line so maybe the extra money spent on adverting could be spent on R&D instead.
